Fall 2013// Are Peplum still in? (Say yes!)

:) Just making sure - because there's an uber cute peplum top that is just SCREAMING my name (and so is an almost expired store credit!)

ETA: Peplums? A pepla? LOL.

ETA2: Just browsing the fall catalogues via Pinterest (It looks like a spin on the peplum)!

  1. BCBG ... I am seriously in love with this outfit!
  2. Christian Lacroix ... a bit of Gatsby feel
  3. Lavin ... I can't sit in this :p
  4. Badgley Mischka ... so minimalist and pretty
  5. And in white!
  6. Yoana Barasch ... shiny!
  7. Oscar has them on jackets...
  8. ... and Rickis! YAY CANADA!

Ruffles - Can I do it? :| Think it'd work? Y/N

I just found a very pretty and sweet little dress - I think it's the shape that I usually wear, and I know that the brand will fit me - the thing that throws me are ruffles.

Will ruffles work for me? Or are they rather dated?

Thanks for your input :)

NAS// Quality Q - Eliza J?

This is not a brand I am very familiar with, however, I would like to find some solid coloured wrap dresses, and these are fairly cute (and my size!)

Has anyone seen them? http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/el.....origin=cat

I have had bad luck w/ wrap dresses in the past pilling like no tomorrow!

Help Me Pick a Rockin' Frock! // NAS

:) Now that I am fully rested from a night of call, I have looked through Angie's picks for NAS, as well as the online offerings. I can probably afford two (possibly three) dresses, but I think I will start with one dress, and try to shore up my existing wardrobe with good quality accessories!

Which dress do you guys like? :)

They are all in stock or orderable, except #4 - because I'll have to stock that Halogen frock because they are all out of stock! #2 is an Angie pick.

I have a favorite, but I'll keep mum on that right now! ;) Thanks!

Fit Question - Eliza J & Tahari Dresses

Good morning!

I thought I'd try my luck at NAS too, since we have a new shipping option that isn't FiftySucks ... uh, FiftyOne ...

I found a few pretty dresses that I'd like to try, except I'm not sure what to order. I usually wear a size 2 or 4 in dresses, usually a 4 because I don't like being very squished.

My measurements are 34/27/37, but according to the size chart, I should be a size 8? This doesn't make any sense to me, so I thought I'd turn to the collective wisdom of YLF to help me make some sense of what to order. :)

Size 4, right? :p

PS: Any favorites of the dresses? I think I may order 2. May be convinced to order 3. :p

PPS: Also, love this outfit!

Quality of "Theory" Brand?

I found this very pretty dark navy/black dress at Winners (TJ Maxx) which is by the brand Theory - it seems very versatile and comes with a teeny tiny hole in a seam which I have already fixed - I want to have a pretty and versatile shirt dress, but I'm not willing to invest the big bucks until I get YLF okay that this is a reputable brand :)

I stuck on pics 1-3 so you can see the details; the colour is more like #4 though - I like the sleeves a lot, because I think it will make the dress more versatile! :)

And it has pockets! And hits me just above the knee, unlike these super tall models!

I love the "trench coat" vent at the back (5) - this dress + nude pumps makes me feel very Kate M :)

PS: It was on third markdown for $110 - it seems like Neiman Marcus was selling it for $275 in pink.

Walked away from Modcloth summer clearance with...

... nothing. And feel GOOD about it!

Wheeeeee! :) There was only three things I was lusting for that were on sale, but with mediocre reviews, I'm sticking to the things in my closet.

Hee hee. :)

That being said, they also just refreshed their Vintage Finds, if anyone is interested!

So, I went crazy... Anthro SemiAnnual Sale

Went with one of my utterly fab and fashionable friends, and we had a blast! Some items were a disappointment - such as the lusted after horizontal stripe skirt that looks FABULOUS on everyone looked TERRIBLE on me. Even the SA was speechless how terrible it was (very high waist, so I guess I"m short waisted? Because it came under my boobs and it was so terrible!)

Anywhoo, made a good dent in my wallet!

Also, their "small" belts are quite big - some of them (despite their cuteness) were no-goes because they'd just fall off my middle!

Unfortunately, my size was sold out of a lot of things, but that's why there's online ordering, right? Also, love that I can make returns, unlike a lot of online purchases :)

1. Songbird Dress: $37
2. Dots and Dahlias Chambray Top: $39
3. Belt: $19
4. Belt: $29
5. Afternoon Safari Pencil Skirt: $59
6. Winter Blossoms Bib Necklace: $39
7. Fetch and Frolic Dress: $79 - one left; size 6, grabbed anyway. :p
8. Atmospheric Hoops: $19
9. Ruled Pointe Tank: $39
10. Cheeka Pencil Skirt: $39
11. Path of Flight Earrings: $19
12. Islington Pencil Dress: $79
13. Gazette Corset Belt: $39
14. Ginger Gold Blouse: $49 (bah, now $29; not in my size)
15. Tassel Sash Belt: $29

On backorder:
16. Minerve Swing Dress: $39
17. Minerve Swing Dress: $39
18. Dual Foundation Pencil Skirt: $29

If everything works out, it looks like I'm done shopping for awhile :) Also, it was hard to resist "deals" - but I think I stayed pretty true to my aesthetic, while wanting to experiment with a few things - chambray!

... Should I be spending $ on stuff I can't wear to work?

As we all know, fashion $ only stretches so far - and while I'm interested in expanding my casual wardrobe, this has caught my eye - the dress meets my length requirements for work (38 to 40"), but the pattern probably isn't appropriate for work (#2 detail).

I am not sure what to do about this - it wouldn't be a very expensive purchase for me (I have about $90 store credit, so it would only be about $20 for me); I can always sit on it and wait for something more fabulous.

I think though, this dress would be super fun to wear when I don't have patients - I already have forged out a bit of a reputation as a funky dresser, so I don't think it would shock staff too much. Starting next year, there is one day a week where I don't have any patients so I can wear whatever I want, and that will be an interesting experience, I think! :)

A "work but no patients" dress ... "going out with friends" or ... "wait for better"?

PPP Pays Off! My perfect green dress is MINE!

After stalking this dress (Maeve Painted Plaid) for a very long time on eBay after I missed it at Anthropologie, I was able to snag this for $70 (thank you seller who mislabeled it!) - and they're willing to ship to Canada for less than an Arm and a Leg! :) I loved it since I saw it on Glee (a very dangeous show for me when it comes to shopping!)

There are -so- many inspirations I found online for adorable outfits that I can't wait to wear it - it is about 40" long (yay), so I'm hoping that Zooey D had it tailored - because I don't think that dress looks nearly 40" long on her :p (or those guys are huge, either or!)

Can't wait!

PS: June's budget may be consumed by these other pretty pretties - #7 I was able to snag for under $30 (thank you, mislabelled/misspelled on eBay), and #8 is not my usual style, but I really love it - and I will need to scheme to get #9 with a friend in Michigan :)

I AM SO EXCITED. I'm so weird, eh?

PS: And as I went to pay - #10 popped up. IN MY SIZE. I have never seen it in my size much less ship to Canada. MIRACLE OF MIRACLES.
