Ruffles - Can I do it? :| Think it'd work? Y/N

I just found a very pretty and sweet little dress - I think it's the shape that I usually wear, and I know that the brand will fit me - the thing that throws me are ruffles.

Will ruffles work for me? Or are they rather dated?

Thanks for your input :)

My concern would be whether or not the ruffles would make it difficult to wear with a blazer, which you wear at work. It is a very pretty dress though.

I would barely call those ruffles -- it's like a classic tuxedo shirt front, isn't it? The fact that it is black balances out the ruffles. It would be similar to fill in space like the ties on your PB blouses.

Pretty.  The black keeps the ruffles sophisticated and not dated.  If you need a cover up I would go with a shrug or a short v-neck blazer with no lapel.

I think it would look good under your blazers. It looks almost like a tuxedo and the dress looks really nice from the back.

Hmm, thanks ladies, I didn't think of it interacting with my beloved blazers!

    No buy this time. PPP!

I think it might work with a lot of blazers, although it would look a little tuxedo.

I do like the way you made your ruffles black.  Way to go, chic doc!

Nice dress, but agree that adding a blazer could be tricky.  I think you recently posted a somewhat similar black dress that was fab on you, so perhaps not too painful to pass on this one.
