So. I have been bad... ETA: Kate Spade Oversold. NOOOOO!

So, it's definitely more than I usually spend on a purse, but I have been looking for a replacement for mine for sometime and haven't found anything really up to snuff.

TADA! Enter the Kate Spade Brighton Park Sloan! :)

My lovely purse now has made me spoiled for leather and beautiful details, and I thought I'd use it until it fell apart -more- because of the lack of better options out there. I have always admired my staff attending's Kate Spade bag, but always thought they were way above my price point... For some reason I thought they also didn't ship to Canada!

But I think I may have found my bag! At least I hope so; because there are no refunds! The reviews on the site seem favourable, so I am quite hopeful. I am in love with the quick-access component of the bag, so I can have my notes at the ready!

PS: I bought it in that dark red oxblood colour instead of the brown - same as my Cambridge Satchel :)

PPS: Okay, now that my budget is COMPLETELY blown, time to sit on my hands until next year!

ETA: Just got the notification that they cancelled my order. Apparently a lot of people on the Kate Spade page have the same problem. Ugh. Sigh. Not meant to be, I suppose. :(

WIB: A Canadian Black Friday!

What a difference a year makes! I was buying all sorts of strange things last year for Black Friday (and I have the link to prove it!) - and this year, I think things are better under control. Shudder. Here was last year's picks - http//minidoc.lookfab.com/post/a-very-canadian-black-friday

I stayed within my budget, and hopefully they are all things that I will be able to work into my wardrobe. I did not include #3 and #4 in my Black Friday budget because I already owned the pieces and I was able to price match (and got about $50 back!)

1) Kate Spade "Courtney" Dot Dress - $68
2) Le Chateau "Bengaline Fit & Flare" - Violet - $75
3) Le Chateau "Bengaline Fit & Flare" - Indigo - Price Match - $75
4) Le Chateau "Tweed Scoop Neck Dress" - Price Match - $75
5) Le Chateau "Fit and Flare Boat Neck Dress" - Pomegranate - $50
6) Le Chateau "Fit and Flare Knit Dress" - Black - $50
7) ModCloth "Dressed to Empress Necklace" - $8
8) ModCloth "Before You Leaf Top" - $17
9) Emily and Fin "Get What You Dessert Dress in Dots" - $50
10) Le Chateau "Double Knit Fit and Flare Dress" - $50
11) Le Chateau "Viscose Blend Check Asymmetrical Dress" - $75

I was pretty disappointed by Anthropologie - the additional 20% didn't really appeal, neither did the $20 shipping cost when everywhere else was offering essentially free shipping. Even the stickler ModCloth had a coupon for me to use to take 15% off any purchase and they let me double dip my discounts. Not really sure why Anthro was so stingy. I found a few pairs of earrings I really liked, but I'm not paying $20 to ship earrings!!!

It doesn't look like there is a lot of colour, just at a glance at my pics once they are all uploaded, and it seems I love dots! The dress in #5 is supposed to be red, but they don't have a picture of it! :3 I am hoping to use it as my holiday party dress! For the first time, I have a date! I am actually looking forward to the holidays this year as not a depressing few weeks of solitude (in my Fortress of Solitude). I thought that replicating the dots of #1 and #9 are okay since #9 is really a cotton summer dress, and I love dots enough year-round! I had tried on #11 in store last year, but thought the original price of $150 was a bit too steep for me at that time; I'm glad I was able to snag one of the last ones!

I also bought a few gifts for family - so my Christmas shopping is all done :) To top it all off, had dinner with my favourite non-family person, and went to see the new Hunger Games (recommend!) - Very content and happy, even with no turkey!

Happy Black Friday :3

WiW 11.29 - A Bit of Astrid and Day Vies!

I was not sure what to do with a dotty shirt dress that was way too short; voila! It is a layer! :)

That is the extent of my cleverness this morning!!!

Happy Black Friday!!!! (I was good this year!)

WiW: 11.28 - A Bit of Suz and Ceit!

As a departure from my usual style, this dress really spoke to me, but I had to try it on to make sure!

I don't think the pleather accents photograph too well, but the mixed materials I think work in harmony. No belting needed: a perfect sheath for bloaty days?!!! :)

ETA: This dress is part of their Black Friday Sale - additional $25 off their sale price (http://www.lechateau.com/style.....s/308257/c)

WiW: 11.27 - It's Puppy Love!

One of my patients followed me around all morning to tell me stories about her poodle! I am glad I don't have my swan sweater anymore: I don't think it's legal to have pet swans!

I decided to keep the indigo dress (it's really navy); and true to team wear, here is it in action again!

I swapped out the necklace though, because the longer one bumped my belt a bit.

Stay warm!

WiW: 11.26 - Another Teaching Day!

The med students are learning about personality disorders today (Pic3)! I thought this was rather amusing graphic and it doesn't do too bad of a job!

I have found this dress doesn't play well with wide belts or blazers. Bleh. May be a texture issue for the blazers because they are of the same "suit" material? A wide belt looks silly.

WiW: 11.25 - Navy Dress Replacement?

My lovely H&M dress had a hole after about 14 wears, so I was out and about looking for something similar to replace it while it was getting fixed. Since the hole was at a seam, I am going to imagine poor workmanship may be a cause (and not too surprised considering the price point).

I really liked this "indigo" dress that I am hoping to use as it's replacement. The price point is higher and I am familiar with the higher end pieces of this company: I have worn some for years.

Does it look like a worthy replacement? Bonus: "sleeves"!

WiW: 11.23 - Not my favorite...

I have been toying around with taking this dress up an inch or two, and as much as I love it, it has been difficult to style for me. The length is great for work, but it's neckline scoops a touch too much. Maybe I should shorten the straps?

Does it look off to you lovely YLF ladies?

WiW: 11.22 - Back from the Abyss!

I got a call from a dry cleaners who had lost my dress last year: well, they found it and were willing to deliver it too! How nice! :) so, I had to team wear this one, especially with pockets!

We are under a snowfall warning again (20 cm expected) but at least this means it will be relatively nice out today. We are back into the plus range tomorrow!

Keep warm, YLF friends!

Seven Outfits in 15 Minutes

Just getting ready for the rest of this week and the upcoming week, I realized that it is getting a lot faster for me to put together outfits! I just threw everything I wanted to wear on the bed and put these seven outfits together in about fifteen minutes!

I hope quality is not compromised for by speed though! I realize that there are lots of variations to a theme and different earrings or choice of belt could totally change even these outfits!

I have been almost halving my morning get ready time, which has been very positive!

Usually when I do make up outfits in advance, I never end up wearing them because after staring at them on the hanger for a week, I am pretty bored! I guess I need to hide them!
