WiW: Finally! An Outfit I Love!!

Man, I have been struggling there for a few weeks to strike a balance in my wardrobe and I think I have finally gotten to a good part! I totally love this outfit!

It pairs easily with a denim jacket for the commute and a black blazer for my teaching session today. And flats!

High and Low! Although I paid low prices for all!

Top: Dorothy Perkins
Skirt: Anthropologie
Watch: Fossil
Necklace: Anthropologie
Shoes: Marks Work Wearhouse
iPhone case: Kate Spade

You look beautiful, Lyn, but you always look feminine and polished.  This is every bit the consistently fab Lyn I'm expecting, but you're feeling, "Yes, I finally got it!"

What makes this outfit soar in the happiness quotient?  What makes it superior to the other recent WIW in your mind?  I ask because I think it will help me give more meaningful feedback to you in the future.

Yay!  Love the B&W.  You look so chic!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

B&W, but it's soft and not bossy. You look great!

    Very nice and feminine.

    Thanks ladies!

I was thinking about what Beth Ann brought up all day (great minds think alike) and I find it really difficult to pin down what I like about this outfit - and I think Joy hit it on the head! I like things that are soft and approachable, but not very bossy. I think that reflects the type of person I am striving to be.

Objectively, I love pussy-bow tops and flare skirts, and most flares I need a belt to keep on - so yay! :)

I also realized this outfit is also very flexible - I can add different toppers or different shoes, and it's not fussy at all this way and I love it!!! Simple and easy to fall back on! "Dependable"?

My kind of prices! I like your assessments, too. Dependable, flexible, approachable... sounds like you!

    Lovely!

    Ack, super cute!

There you go!   Soft and approachable makes good sense to me --- isn't your area of speciality psychiatry?  That's a perfect look when you're dealing with people in crisis.  So many ways to project that rubric:  color, silhouette, playful elements, etc.

It also seems that you like outfits that offer lots of options for styling, rather than something that seems to demand to be used one way.

  • tayleigh replied 10 years ago

Ohhh this is one of my favourite outfits on you! I especially like the necklace peeking out below the neckline. Actually I like all the elements so it's hard to pick a specific one.

and I definitely think you've nailed "soft and approachable"!

This is lovely! I like that Beth Ann encouraged the analysis. It really does help to think further than I like this when analysing - in the long run I think that sort of analysis will pay off!
