K/R: A Trench For Me Too???!!

Oi! I was in love with all of you ladies' beautiful trenches so I set out for one myself, knowing Burberry was out of my budget.

Took a risk on this one; it is beige, and usually that colour is terrible on me! I love this coat! It makes me feel very Dixon Hill with some Goldenpig mixed in!!

What do you guys think?

Ps: the loose button got me an additional discount (original $350, marked down to $110 with additional 30% off and additional $15 of for "damage" = girl math!)

Trench: Le Chateau

I love it! Great score. Also I think this is your style too right? It is at Nordstrom Topanga for $251, down from $425. Ted Baker London, great quality, like a Burberry. Size 2.

Oooh, gorgeous coat, Elle.  Is that in your budget, Lyn? Would be so fab on you!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

I can't believe how much I love this on you. It really works. Where'd you get it?

  • harmonica replied 10 years ago

    gorgeous!

  • cinnamon fern replied 10 years ago

I love the idea of a trench for you but am unconvinced - the shoulders look like they don't fit to me.  Did you try another size?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

A trench should definitely be in your wardrobe lyn. Definitely make sure you have room to layer your lovely blazers underneath. The shoulders seem a tiny bit wide to me - what do you think? To be honest though, for me personally, that's not a deal breaker. I think this particular shade of beige works on you.

The fit looks really good, and I love the cut! Why does everything look so ladylike and elegant on you lyn? You really have a great frame for dresses and coats like this.

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

OMG Keep! It looks fab on you, and goes perfectly with your outfit. And a beige that doesn't look soul-sucking on an Asian! Score!!!
Elle's fuschia trench would be so fabulous on you too, but I thought we were similar size and it's too big a size for me...are you a size 2?

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

    I am a 2. :) or a 4. Somedays.

  • Kristin L replied 10 years ago

It looks great from what I can see. And that's some great girl math!

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Oh, you are smaller than me. I'm usually a 4-6 or even 8. That fuchsia one would be fab on you too!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Gosh, both of those are so fab! The tan one is totally timeless and classic, and the pink one is whimsical.

Hey, Natalie, I wonder if they have any pink ones in your size??

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Elle - That jacket is HEARTSTOPPING. FiftyOne would EAT MY SOUL though. :( BAH. STOOOOOPID FIFTYONE IS KEEPING ME FROM NORDIES GOODIES. *cry*

@ Thistle - I just worked a few extra shifts, so it's definitely in my budget. I also walked away from the Anthro sale most recently with a fistful of returns, so I actually am in a good situation right now.

    @ RachyLou - It's from Le Chateau Outlet :) I think it is a 2010 style.

@ Cinnamon - Unfortunately, this is the last one left, so I can't size up or size down. I like my trenches a touch roomier so I can layer a blazer or a leather jacket - maybe I'll try that and get some pics!

@ Shannon - I have a cobalt trench as well, and that one is more fitted - so i thought I would wear that one when I had less layers and this one when I have more layers! I'm glad you think the beige works!

@ Claire - I'm sure it's the same reason why everything looks elegant and ladylike on youuuuu ;) I really enjoy this vibe - it's very Polly Perkins.

@ Natalie - I'm fluctuating quite a bit, actually - my 4 pencil skirts are falling off right now, and my measurements haven't really changed - it's kind of weird. I am wearing most of my size 2's right now, but they seem the same size as 4's. BAH. I don't know :p This jacket is a size small - my cobalt is a Zara 4. I am usually an Anthro 2 or 4.

@ Rae - the pink one is soooooo fab!!!!! I'd never get run over by a car because it'd stop traffic!

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Rae, Elle's fuchsia one is tempting but I think I'll stick with my red corset trench for now, since it matches my new purse. :)

Lyn, a colorful trench should be the next item on your list :D

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Will do! Along with black boots. :p

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

Looks good from what I see. If you're not wearing a jacket in the photo then likely you do need that amount of roominess. Take it home and try it with various layers. Seems like it could be a real keeper. I actually prefer the neutral color as it can skew springy or fall/ winter and you can always add scarves and bags in colors, and it does seem like a very " good" beige.

  • tayleigh replied 10 years ago

It looks gorgeous on you, and I love the way you've styled it in the first photo :)

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

Haha ladies it isn't my fuschia one. Not my style or colour but when I saw it you know who I thought of? Natalie & Lyn, for real. So I tried it on & took pics & was going to post as a PSA, then came home & saw Natalie's post so I mentioned it there. I thought Lyn or anyone else interested would see it there so I never bothered with a separate post. Then I saw Lyn's post. Anyway, I'm not sure if I got it right with their style but thought that someone has to have that trench.

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Fab trench! Then, the fuchsia, too:-)

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Elle, you're right on the money - I would love such a dressy trench, but the stupid company that Nordies uses to ship would skyrocket the price and give me the runaround (if I get my stuff at all). Oh well, thanks for thinking of me! :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Lyn, this looks good to me from what I can tell, so if it feels wonderful and the quality is there, go for it. You definitely need a trench in your work wardrobe! Anyone who wears dresses and skirts as much as you do needs a coat in that style for sure. And while I love the fuchsia (well, you know I would, right?) I hear you on Fifty-One (grinds teeth) plus, in the long run, that coat might feel a bit short for wearing with dresses and skirts.

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

Lyn I would buy & ship it to you but I am leaving for England tomorrow & have too much to do. Haven't written a list of what to pack yet or even posted questions on here or a capsule or anything. I've been too focused on the wedding outfit I need. Where do you live anyway?

  • replied 10 years ago

Lyn* -- look at Gaylene's post. Nordstrom has free shipping and no brokerage fee now!

  • RoseandJoan replied 10 years ago

I hope you bought the trench, it gels with your style so well and draws attention to your slender frame.

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

    Lyn I am 5'7", 35, 28, 35 if that helps.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Elle - What size of coat are you wearing in your post? We are almost twins. I am also 5'7" and 34, 26, 34 these days. :) Thank you for being a dear and offering to send it to me, but you enjoy your trip and that wedding and I'll investigate the shipping situation!

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

Lyn the Ted Baker is a 2. I don't have broad shoulders either but don't know their measurement but visually they look the same width as my hips.
