WiW: A new fall back outfit formula?

Good morning!

Ran late this morning because I was catching up on all the Wills and Kate's baby news!!

I have been relying on this "formula" a lot last week and for the most part, I have been pretty happy with the results.

Bow blouse & Blazer & Belt & Skirt

It works for my work anyway, because necklaces are so no no.

How do I differentiate between a "formula" that works and being stuck in a rut?

    Looks nice!

A rut causes angst, and a formula makes your life easier!

Hi Lyn, I had this same question recently and came to the conclusion (with lots of help from the YLFers) that a rut makes you unhappy and a formula/signature style makes you happy. Add the caveat that the shapes and styles should be generally current, and there you go.

That outfit definitely does NOT say rut to me - looks great!

Looks terrific, especially with the addition of the blazer.

When I am no longer happy with my outfits, it's time to shake up the formula.  When dressing is easy and I feel happy in my outfits it's a formula that works.  I am a big fan of formula dressing, just makes my life so much easier in the morning.

I'm just curious why necklaces are a work no-no? But I'm worried about what the answer might be! I think I can guess.

The royal baby is exciting! The only thing I maybe miss about my English ex-boss is time-outs for major royals news. Lol.

The formula is working great, esp. with the stunning colour of that blazer!

Out of curiosity - if necklaces are no-nos, why are bow ties ok? (I'm thinking it's a safety issue)

I think it's a rut when you wear it because you feel you're supposed to but it doesn't make you smile, whereas a formula is easy to grab and always makes you feel good and like "you".

I'm thinking just what Shannon said. Your formula seems to be working, you look great.

@ Peri - I actually don't know - I always assumed it was a safety thing, but the staff doctors all wear them. My staff attending has a beautiful collection of silk scarves and she has a different one every day.

I guess I"ll just ride this out and see if this is very "me" :)

It's definitely not a rut my dear.  You look gorgeous, and this look and style works for you.

Wow, what a gorgeous outfit!  This is one of your best, in my book.  The colors, the retro vibe.  I love this on you.

When you no longer find sources of joy in different elements of your outfit, you're in a rut.

gorgeous outfit! love the royal blue and "dirty" yellow together!

you already have good answers on rut vs formula :-)

Thanks! I think I enjoy this formula for now - it is quite fun!

I like the material this skirt is made of too - I can't stop rubbing it - I'm going to wear a hole :p
