WiW: A Pretty Plaid

Whee! A day without patient care! As much as I love my job, these days without patient care are a welcome break. We are learning about cultural sensitivities today, so I feel a little culturally insensitive by wearing plaid! At least it's not a tartan plaid! ;p

I love this dress, but too short! :(

Dress: Closet UK

Jacket: Forever 21

It is really cute, but I agree, it's short! Can you layer a tutu underneath?

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

I agree that it is pretty short. A tutu is a great idea!

I love the lady like shoes with it. I associate plaid with grunge so that is the perfect little ladylike touch. For the length I have no suggestion...

I love your look - always perfectly feminine and chic.  Never seen a misstep from you!  I wouldn't worry about the tartan - lol!  It's an homage, if anything.

Ok, I know the jacket covers the dress, but I feel like the dress fits you perfectly.

    It's really cute.

@ Ceit & Thistle - ooooh; I think a tutu would be a great idea under the skirt, unfortunately, they aren't that long so it won't really add any length, but it's okay for going to lectures and planning and paperwork all day. A lot of the other residents and staff my age wear this length to work, I'm just not too comfortable with it.

@ Sarah - I love grunge! :) Maybe I need to pull out my boots in the fall for this dress!

@ Helen - Ooooooooooh boyyyyyyy we need to spend more time together :) I always try to do interesting things and often they misfire!

@ Rachy - Actually; the dress is a titch too small for me - especially after lunch, or when I get my "pee baby" :)

    Thanks, Shedev! :D

The dress is short but you look cute.

How do you get such great pictures with a cell phone? I've been trying, but the phone always ends up blocking half the outfit. I've tried reflections in mirrors like I think you are doing, but just can't get the angle right!

I don't think the skirt is too short, not at your age!

  • pil replied 10 years ago

I like the plaid with your denim jacket. Nothing wrong with the plaid - you're not being disrespectful. On the other hand, if they were hot pants.....
r.e. the length - you're so adept at pattern mixing and the tutus are too short - do you have another lightweight twirly skirt that would work? And "pee baby" tee hee.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Joy - Thanks! I feel it's short too, but everyone at work insists it's not. I think it is. :)

@ Peri - I just experimented with a good angle - how does your phone block the outfit? maybe you can send me a pic which is not so good and I can help? I'd suggest standing farther back from the mirror, if that helps :)

@ Pil - RAWR. I need some plaid hot pants :3 ... it's totally a pee baby. I look about 3 months pregs sometimes with my pee baby and it goes away after. I asked my doctor about it and she thought it was the most hilarious thing ever (my bladder leans forward).

One of my favourite on you these last few days, and they've all been fab.

  • Hil replied 10 years ago

I love love love this outfit! It's short, but really - I don't think it's too short and you have fab legs! The shoes up the ladylike factor brilliantly!

This is a fun dress.  I think in the fall with boots is a great idea!

I love this! Is there any seam allowance to let down the dress a touch? It is so fantastic with the denim jacket.
