WiW 6.11 - The Real World vs. The Mirror

After reading Anna's interesting WiW thread, I thought about how "realistic" my WiW were: I think they are reflective of my "work" look that is an environmentally controlled center!

I have a 2km by foot commute to the subway, so pumps rarely work on this (and it wears down my shoes like no tomorrow), so I swap to flats or sandals (my wedges are awesome!) - I thought I would also post my "commute" look (Pic 3) which is usually less sleek but hopefully still fun!

I managed to borrow some pumps from my sister for work today! I need some black suede ones :)

Did I mention this dress has pockets?!

  • Dress: eShakti
  • Belt: Joe Fresh
  • Earrings: Anthropologie
  • Trench: Ricki's
  • Pumps: Cole Haan
  • Flats: Born

Nice idea to show the real world version. I've been thinking about the fact that I haven't been including my purse in my WIW photos. Nor have I been including my work tote, any change of shoes for my walk, or outerwear. It's nice to see both in this post and you look fab both ways.

Pockets are excellent! A good dress.

    I'm 100% for realism.

Looks good! I was expecting a bigger difference in the commute version, but it is perfectly in vein with the indoor version.

I think the computer version looks just as put together. YLF!

Great idea to post both versions, both look fab, I love your trench :)

@Debra - I have a funny story about the trench, there is a lady who goes to the same coffee shop as me who has the exact same jacket! We walk by and congratulate each other on our excellent taste in fashion when we see each other in the mornings :)

Fun connection with your fellow coffee drinker and the trench. You could totally wear the flats all day too. Are you on your feet all day with your pumps, lyn*? I have a friend in the medical field who wears heels every day and is on her feet all day. I don't know how she does it!

I wear pumps almost all day! I have gel inserts in all of my pumps, and I sit a lot (you don't do a lot of standing psychiatry!) so I really have to walk a few bursts every day. Most of my colleagues wear flats, though.

    Great either way!

Great dress!  I love the colors.

Nice to see the new dress in action!
Like Aida I don't see much difference between commute and work options - actually the commute one is very cute with that polka dot trench!

Love this look! And the commute look is so adorable! The flats still work well!

I love the trench with the dress - looks so great and pulled together. And I love your fashion twin story too!

Good job showing your commuter look. Fabulous.

I would love to see the same in Winter when it's -40 degrees.

  • lyn* replied 9 years ago

I think I've posted a winter bundled up WiW with ski pants and all before!

    Looking great, Lyn!

Great call on changing shoes from commute to work. I think it's still sleek, just a bit more practical for your walk. And how can you go wrong with a dotty coat?
