WiW: 12.4 - Blackwatch on the Plains of -30C

I didn't know I would ever find a plaid I would love so much, or a pleated skirt that fit! It is a kid's skirt, but we will keep that our little secret! It even has my initials (thank you, Lands End) and makes me feel like I got to go to private school like I have always dreamed!

That being said, I hope I tied in enough other elements not to read "hi, I just escaped from the girls school over there!" :)

Also, another cold day!

  • Cardigan: Ricki's
  • Blouse: Dorothy Perkins
  • Skirt: Land's End
  • Earrings: Ruche
  • Belt: Vintage Burberry
  • Boots: Vintage Born

I am a total sucker for this plaid and for this schoolgirl vibe so you are asking the wrong person if you want a critique. I love it.

I like it!  I think the length and cognac accessories keep it grown up.

Hilariously, I think I actually had a uniform skirt almost exactly like that when I was in high school :)

I think it looks great! The boots and belt are definitely unlike anything that I ever saw in a uniform, so it doesn't make you look like a school girl. I also really like how you paired it with the shirt with the long bow.

    Looks terrific!

I like plaid, too! And I'm glad you finally found a skirt that fit! :)

What a great skirt! Being LE, it's probably washable too. I have always liked the look of pleated skirts but fear the dry cleaning bill for pressing those pleats.

Really cute! I too am a sucker for this beautifull plaid.

@ Joy - It's totally washable! There pleats are "sewn in" so you just wash and take it out and shake - PLEATS ARE BACK!!!!!! :D

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

I'm glad pleats are back, Lyn.  They're underrated!

You look lovely in this, and your style is grown up!

    Pretty plaid print here.

  • Jules replied 10 years ago

I can tell you're not in uniform because you haven't hiked your skirt up to barely cover your behind ;)
Love it! While not the same look, I'm still mad my mom threw out the tiny plaid kilt I wore punk-rock style in the 90s.... I had legs, and I knew how to use them ;)

i wore this very skirt in grade school.  i can vouch that you do not look like you are a recent escapee.  totes adorbs.

You look fantastic! The untucked belted sweater and boots look totally grown up chic... No schoolgirl escape here. Cant beat a cute wash and wear skirt...awesome find!

I'm a sucker for black watch plaid but this skirt is beyond stunning on you, no school girl replica.  Great job styling Lyn!

I think you look adorable but not at all like a kid! Love the skirt!
