WiW: 1.07 - A Nip/Tuck with the Sewing Machine!

This dress I bought on clearance last year and I sized up in it to allow room for le boobage, but unfortunately, this meant a wider waist: I took out the sewing machine and nipped in four of my dresses this weekend, and I notice the difference in fit right away! I hope it looks okay too :)

I guess my little $70 ikea machine has more than paid for itself!

    Thanks!!

I love my little ikea machine. I have taken in a lot of things and it is good for hemming too (but it's not a serger).

    I have had no problems!

Is there no end to your talents?

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Thanks! :) I really liked the fit today - it wasn't too overwhelming like it usually is!

@ Aleta - I assure you I can not to many things!!!

Great job!  Looks so pretty on you!  I'm always in awe of your needle skills.  Haha...I just realized that could be your sewing and doctor skills!

I do finish my hand sewing with a surgical knot ;)

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

Good thinking!  I can do basic repairs and hems with my sewing machine but I always procrastinate.

And I bet you sew the stitches on the patients reaaaaal pretty :)

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Tee hee hee, very pretty, if they sit still.

Great job Lyn! Since you shared your surgical knot story, I have to tell you what my dad does. He's had to sew up a few of our tarps over the years and he swears he can fix it faster using a surgical clamp type thingy (sorry, I can't remember the exact name) than stitching it using only his hand. :P

Like a hemostat? I do that for our upholstery too :)
