Should I email and complain?? (Boden)//UPDATE!

My poor Boden order!!!

Should I email their customer care and complain? I at least want my delivery charges back.

This box is torn and crushed and wet!!

UPDATE: I got an email back from Boden requesting the images which I have sent them. As an apology, they are currently offering to compensate me the costs to repair or clean the garments that are a bit wet and musty. I have requested a refund on the shipping costs. Will keep you informed!

Are the contents ok? I would only call if they were damaged.

I would definitely let them know! As a business, they should want to hear how their delivery services are being carried out. Ask for a refund as well.

Wet as well as smashed up!?  That's no good.  Are your purchases ok?

Email them, definitely, and let them know what shape the box was in when it arrived.

Yes, I would send them the pics.  Clearly something went wrong with the shipping process.  I'm not sure it was Boden's fault, but maybe they can refund shipping or something.

I agree with Pil. Complain if there's damage to the goods.

    send pics - definitely unacceptable!!

I absolutely would contact their customer care dept. Even if there is no damage to the goods, they should refund your shipping charges.

I once ordered a set of large coffee mugs from Target.com, and the box arrived half smashed in - of course almost all of the mugs were broken.  I contacted their customer service, got a new box of mugs sent to me - with the second box equally smashed in and most of the mugs broken. A glutton for punishment, we went one more go-round - and yes, you guessed it, more smashed mugs. I brought all three boxes to Target, saying, "I'll never order from your .com again," had them refund my money, and got to keep the only four unbroken mugs amongst the three boxes.

Ohmigosh. I'm sorry. I want to laugh because that's horrible. You are not joking about a crushed, open, soggy box. I'd definitely call.

I would definitely let them know.  How did the items inside fare?

  • lyn* replied 9 years ago

Oh, the items are beautifully packaged and a delight to receive! I need to tailor two of the dresses, because they fit everywhere except I need to trim down the waist.

:) Can't wait to order from Boden again ... kinda.

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

Oh, no!  I got the same cute package, but mine was a plastic bag and fully intact.  Yes, I'm sure their customer service will take care of you.

This happened to me once , years ago, when Boden did not have a distribution center in the US and it came from the UK. It turned out that customs had opened it. Apparently they randomly open overseas packages some times. Generally, if the post office or a shipping company trashes it, they include a note. If customs does it, your consolation is that it got there and you don't get a note. : )

You bet! Complain to Boden and also to the mail service. They should do better for you. If the items are OK then ask for courtesy on the shipping charges. Complain because when the time comes to pay the bill they expect the full amount. Just the same, you expect the merchandise to arrive in good condition in exchange for your hard earned money.
I would call them ASAP and follow-up with an e-mail.

I think the company at least needs to know how their deliveries are being completed. That would NOT be okay with most places. I won't order from Barnes & Noble anymore because every single box I have received from them has been smashed and bashed. The contents have not been damaged, but if things keep up the way they were, it would inevitably happen at some point.

Hmmm, I thought that when customs opened a box they resealed it with clear packing tape that says something on it about being opened by customs. Several years ago I used to work with a client in Canada (I'm in the US), and we would send documents back and forth to each other. One time I got her package, and it had been opened and resealed with this tape noting that customs had gotten hold of it. So I'm not so sure that customs is the culprit here...especially since the box was wet too (?).

This makes me think of shipments I've rec'd from UPS where you can actually see footprints on the package! And it will look like they used the package to play hockey or something. It's almost like they intentionally beat up the packages, lol! Maybe they have a lot of pent-up anger.

I am happy the items inside are in good shape. Looking forward to seeing your pics of these dresses.

  • harmonica replied 9 years ago

Very happy that the content was not damaged. I would let them know anyway.

I'm relieved the contents were fine, but agree to let Boden know. They are wonderful at customer service. I have had a few shipments (from UK) that either never arrived or they came much much later than they were supposed to and each time Boden sent replacements no questions asked and just asked that I return to them if the original ever showed up.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Oh. that's too bad. *sad face*

Definitely phone and let Boden know what happened. I'm sure they will be very accommodating and give you excellent customer service. I'm excited to see your dresses.
