Seven Outfits in 15 Minutes

Just getting ready for the rest of this week and the upcoming week, I realized that it is getting a lot faster for me to put together outfits! I just threw everything I wanted to wear on the bed and put these seven outfits together in about fifteen minutes!

I hope quality is not compromised for by speed though! I realize that there are lots of variations to a theme and different earrings or choice of belt could totally change even these outfits!

I have been almost halving my morning get ready time, which has been very positive!

Usually when I do make up outfits in advance, I never end up wearing them because after staring at them on the hanger for a week, I am pretty bored! I guess I need to hide them!

15 minutes -really, you have this down to a science!

  • E replied 10 years ago

Go you! I'm a mood dresser, so I almost never pick my outfits out in advance unless I'm travelling, and I'm impressed with your organising ability!

  • Gigi replied 10 years ago

Congratulations on shortening your get-ready time! That is awesome. Yay! I love the pop of color in #5.

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Hide those babies because they are too fab not to wear. You have such a great remixing eye. I can't wait to see them on you!

  • jamieyh replied 10 years ago

I love the clothes on picture 5 and 7 best.

  • RunswithDolphins replied 10 years ago

It's funny that the outfits look very nice on the hangers but then when I see them on you I'm always blown away.  You definitely put the POW in your wardrobe.  So what do you do with all that extra time in the morning?

  • ManidipaM replied 10 years ago

Colour me very very impressed. You don't just plan, clearly; you organise the outfit and have it ready in one place down to the accessories. Bet that makes a bigger difference than planning alone.

  • VernieJane replied 10 years ago

Those are cute outfits--I'm impressed by your fearless combining of patterns! Where is that black cardigan from? I am looking for a great black cardigan that comes to just below the hips, but not all the way down the thigh...I wear cardigans most of the year round at work...

  • replied 10 years ago

Great job! Hide these so you won't get bored!

  • rute replied 10 years ago

    you are amazing!
    LOVE 1!

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

good for you! i really need to start doing this, as i seem to stress each morning.
love all of these outfits, but #1 is my fav

  • replied 10 years ago

The power of a "uniform" right there for you! You have nailed your style. These are all beautiful.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

You know your style. Makes it so much easier to get ready.

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

You are so efficient. The outfits are great too.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

What a great idea, you are so organized, I'm usually planning my outfit while in the shower :)
They all look fantastic, will you have time to take photos of you wearing them and re post?

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

I can't even imagine doing this but am very impressed. #3 especially caught my eye but I am sure they all will look even better on you!

  • Momo replied 10 years ago

    I love your pattern mixing!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Those are great outfits with some beautiful pattern mixes and great colours. And I can see how your style is developing and changing here.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

    Brilliant!

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

These are all great. I want to steal the necklace and jacket in 1. Actually, the dress too. I'm sure you'll come up with a replacement outfit in no time :)

  • carter replied 10 years ago

Love all of these! Especially crazy about the polka dot top in #2 and the gorgeous skirt in #3. Any chance you remember where you got them/who makes them?

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

I am curious if these are combinations that you've previously tried on? I ask because sometimes I'll have something in mind but it doesn't work together as well as I envisioned.

  • replied 10 years ago

I am in awe of your organisation! All 7 outfits look great!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Super cute. It's fun to see a week's worth of your style all laid out.

Interesting about not wearing prepared outfits. I'm like that with groceries. I bought some ground beef for tacos and made meatloaf instead. Haha.

  • Jewell replied 10 years ago

All that in 15 minutes- you go girl! I want to be just like you. I'm offering to hide #4 in my closet for you.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Vernie - The cardigans are all from Ricki's, with the exception of the dotty one (Forever 21)

    @ Runswithdolphins - I read YLF :p HAHAHA.

@ Carter - The dotty top in #2 is actually a shirt-dress I just cut down to make a shirt - it is from Dorothy Perkins. I have one as a shirt-dress too! I wear it more during the summer :) The skirt in #3 is actually a dress! It's from Anthropologie. I believe it's on second cut sale right now :)

@ Susie - Nope, I haven't tried on most of these before; but I have worn all these clothes before, just not with each other. I rarely buy things these days that don't play well with ALL of my wardrobe, so I know all my tops will for better or worse play with all my skirts.

    @ Rachylou - Mmmmmm... meatloaf.

  • Shirley replied 10 years ago

Sweet.  You have a very nice wardrobe.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

    Cute x 7

  • peacechick replied 10 years ago

Amazing and I can't believe you did this in 15 mins! I think it's not so much having a uniform as it is knowing your wardrobe really well and buying clothes that play well together as you say. My future goal!

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Peacechick - I think it's easier to have clothes that play together well when you -do- have a uniform! Mid-rise flare skirt + blouse with small or no pattern is easy to shop for :)

  • replied 10 years ago

So you're sometimes layering a dress under another dress or a dress under a skirt? That's a smart way to keep warm! Great line-up for next week lyn. :)

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Claire - shhhhh, that will be our "little secret" - ;) Helps increase the numbers of "tops" and numbers of "bottoms" I have too!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Layering dresses with dresses, what a great idea!  You are very clever.  I think you have a very cohesive closet with a lot of fun prints, which must help in quick assembly for those rush days.  I see no style compromise here, just a nice collection of outfits each with interesting details.  The last one is my favorite because the grey blazer makes the grey print in that dress really pop.

  • MsLuna replied 10 years ago

Wow! I love how despite the differences in texture/colours/moods of the outfits, you still manage to come up with these outfits in such a short amount of time! This goes to show that you've developed a system that works for you!

I'm especially in love with outfit #6. I really love how you mix different prints together!

  • Kristin L replied 10 years ago

Bravo! I really like #2 and #4. It looks like a lot of your wardrobe plays well together. Going with the hiding idea, is there a way you can arrange them in your closet so you're not staring at them all week?

  • pil replied 10 years ago

You are a styling machine. From the thread title I thought maybe you were prepping for a fire drill :)

  • L'Abeille replied 10 years ago

Amazing. Ive been doing that for a while (just in my head or on paper) and it makes the mornings so much easier, especially when I'm on call and have 2 days to prep on one morning. I rarely change my mind unless weather or plans do something very unexpected. (Or today, when the plaid shirt I planned to wear was IN THE LAUNDRY, so I guess I would benefit from the hanger version).

What amazes me is how much each one of these outfits looks just like you, even just hanging on the hanger. You have your style nailed perfectly!

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ L'Abeille - I used to make outfits on StyleBook, but I found I ran into the problem that a lot of the outfits I imagined didn't actually work out in real life. I think back then my closet was not cohesive enough yet to allow for full mix and match!

I hate it when the piece I want to wear is in the laundry/soiled/doesn't fit. Really throws a wrench in my system!!!

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

You must be a superwoman!!! It would be a good day if I planned one outfit in that 15 mins o_O

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

Nice job--a week of fab outfits in no time flat. These are all great. I'm particularly drawn to #1, and yet, well, I just like them all! You had me laughing about your creating these and then wondering if you'll even actually wear them. I've done that--figured out an outfit for the next day and then gone with something entirely different. So much for planning! Still, if I've gone through the exercise of planning an outfit, it does make for quicker dressing in the morning, even if I end up going with something else. Not sure how that works.

  • VenusCow replied 10 years ago

This is so much fun and your outfits look great. The styling challenge. In my Hollywood Look For Less Style Show I used to challenge a member of the audience to create one outfit in 3 minutes against the clock. Brings back memories.
PS Thanks for commenting on my YLF post:)

  • cheryl replied 10 years ago

Way to go. You are amazing and you have the best clothes!

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

Good job.  You need to pitch this as an article idea for a women's magazine.   Wherein you share your secrets.  I love the part about hiding the outfit so you don't second guess yourself or tire of the look!

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

;) I can't give away all my secrets!
