WiW: Wardrobe Workhorse that was slow out the gate!

Once upon a time (in a far away land) when I had bought this skirt I had the intention that it was going to be one of those super easy Wardrobe Workhorses! Instead it has been rather biding its time in my closet: but given all the talk lately about workhorses, I decided to try it out today!

I rarely wear white bottoms, which I think has given me pause and hesitation in the past.

I thought that the black cardigan was a bit too long, so I went with the yellow (bonus for bright and cheerful!) but now looking at pics, they seem to be about the same length! Oh what a mess.

I think this skirt will work with flats too. The challenge seems to be what tops to pair with such a bold pattern! Time to put plain tops on the shopping list, I think!

What do you YLFers think? :)

  • Cardigan (black): Ricki's
  • Cardigan (yellow): Forever21
  • Blouse: Dorothy Perkins
  • Skirt: Maeve (Anthropologie)
  • Belt: Joe Fresh
  • Earrings: Anthropologie
  • Pumps: Le Chateau
  • Watch: Fossil

I like the yellow but love the black. I hope we see more of this skirt! Did you try it with a blazer?

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Oooh, I love the skirt, especially with the yellow cardigan! So cheery! I agree this skirt could be a great workhorse!

  • Cindy replied 10 years ago

Love the skirt with either cardigan!

I love the yellow cardigan and had the same thought that the two sweaters looked about the same length.  I think the skirt will look great with some plain tops in bold colors.

Yes it's a fab skirt on you; a definite workhorse! I have a slight preference for the black cardigan, though both are fab.

Very nice! The pop of yellow is great with the dark colors. Yes, some plain tops will make this a workhorse, I think.

the skirt is lovely! I prefer with the yellow cardi

I like the pattern and cut of this skirt, Lyn*, and the yellow cardigan is super with it. Your red jacket, pink jacket, denim jacket - the possibilities are endless!

I think it looks great with the dark blouse and cardi, which is not too long at all. Beautiful skirt!

This looks great with either cardi, but I have a slight preference for the yellow.  Since you are wearing them open, their length is fine.  If you wanted/needed to button, that's where the length would be a problem.

In addition to solids, how about trying small prints with the skirt?  Maybe prints that would read close to a solid from a distance or in a thumbnail?  Sorry, but I'm drawing a blank on your tops so I can't offer you any suggestions from your wardrobe.

Pretty, pretty, pretty.  Love your taste, lyn.  Also love how Canadian brands always figure into your fab mix.  :)  Ambassador!  The skirt is gorgeous with both the black cardi and yellow, btw.  (I'm always amused at your 'unsure' analysis, though.)

@ Cobaltblue - ACTUALLY I tried it on with my COBALT BLUE blazer!!! :) Tee hee. I am doing a group today with patients that I know well and it is a relaxed atmosphere, and I don't really want to be too much of an authority today, so I decided not to go with the Power Blazer ;)

@ Natalie - I know, isn't the yellow so bright and cheerful?

@ Cindy - Thanks! :) That just means it's versatile, right?

@ Sarah - I guess that plain tops in bold colour will have to go on my "TO BUY" list!

@ Diane - I think I need to wash my black cardigan, but that's another story...

@ Rae - If only they weren't so hard to find!

    @ Rute - Thanks :)

@ Pil - ALL MY JACKETS!!!!! AT ONCE!!!! jk. Not at once. :p

@ Claire - Thanks! :) There is another resident who wears these UBER LONG cardigans, so I am starting to get a poison eye.

@ Donna - I think I might try my Cat shirt with this skirt next time, the patterns are quite small (pinky nail sized).

@ Helen - WELL, if us Canucks don't shore up the brands, then we will not have any! It is best to have a critical eye sometimes.

This skirt is fab on you lyn and I LOVE that it has pockets! You need to wear this one A LOT!!!

Will it work with your hot pink blazer too?

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Everything works with the HOT PINK BLAZER :D Tee hee. I can't wait to wear it again (probably a sign of a workhorse).

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

    A very definite sign :)

  • Carole replied 10 years ago

Love it! Seems like such a versatile print and color! Yay!

  • KathyL replied 10 years ago

I really like it with the yellow cardigan. Love the pockets on the skirt!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago
