WiW: Floral Skirt (K/R?)

Good Morning!

I found this really pretty pencil skirt when I went to take a few things back! What do you guys think? I quite like the versatile colours: it seems like it will work with blue and purples well, although I am not a huge purple fan.

Question one: yay/nay on the skirt?

Question two: this top is one of my fav tops and it sold out in three weeks. I found one in my size last night: worth replication? I sometimes get stalled in outfit creation because it is in the wash.

Another question: open or closed blazer? :)

Thanks!

Open blazer, skirt is lovely, so yay, and if outfits are being held up, definitely duplicate. Love the skirt on you, and your pattern mixing is perfect.

    Gorgeous skirt!!!!! Love!

Oooooh! Love the skirt and so glad you posted. I just ordered a floral skirt and can't wait for it to arrive. Thanks for the idea on styling it.

Love this skirt on you lyn - definitely keep. I like the blazer open so the top and more of the skirt shows. I think the top is worth duplicating.

The skirt's really pretty, Lyn. Does it pass the sit test?

Top worth duplicating if you love it that much!

Print of the skirt is gorgeous.

If it's impeding you in outfit creation and you think your love for the shirt is likely to be longlasting (I'm guessing yes) duplicate it! As a bonus if anything happens to your old one you'll still have a spare :)

Definitely open blazer. There's something about the proportions of the closed blazer that bothers me.

    Great skirt!

Dupe question depends--does it mean you need another top exactly same, or should you shop for something that is similar but that works with similar items or crosses over into another capsule. I tend to have done too much duplication in the past, thinking I'd always love the item being afraid I wouldn't find it or something to like better, and that proved wrong, so that's my perspective.

I love the skirt, I'd say blazer open, and I think if you wear the top more than twice a week then duplication is necessary.

    Keep the skirt!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

I love the skirt.  Does it pass the sit down test?

I say duplicate the shirt if you are often reaching for it and it is in the laundry.

I like the blazer closed best.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

    Yay!! on the skirt.

I can't decide on open/closed on the jacket. More polished closed, but more traditionally flattering open - you get an hourglass shape with it open; closed more an IT.

Keep that skirt. It looks great on you and that print and colors are awesome. Very versatile.

Not quite sure with the sit down. How short is too short?

  • tayleigh replied 10 years ago

Short enough that you feel uncomfortable and fidgety when sitting down, I'd imagine. Few things more annoying than spending all your time worrying if you're going to flash someone :P

Well, this is a jolly skirt - got two phone # in the span of about 15 minutes. Neither are going to get a call, but hey, I guess it works? :p

@ Donnat - Maybe it's a sign I need to do laundry more often! HAHA! I think I will dupe though, because my size 2 is a bit roomy, but size 0 is more polished.

    @ Rute - Thanks!!!! :D

@ Trinity - I can't wait to see your floral skirt!!!

@ Shannon - I just feel conscious about mah belly.

@ Suz - Yes, I think it does; I went to a conference today and felt fine. And I belted it by accident a little higher than I usually would.

@ Tayleigh - Good point! My old washer used to eat clothes like candy. I just got a new laundry duo though :)

@ Unfrumped - This happened to me too, with pencil skirts. I found one that fit and bought it in cobalt, black, magenta, red and forest green, but I went off pencil skirts for a little bit. Hopefully I can swing them back into favour :)

@ Raisin - I probably wear it once or twice every three weeks. People start to wonder if you wear it more than once a week here - "DID YOU BUY THEM AT COSTCO?!" :)

    @ Alaskagirl - Thanks!

@ Thistle - I think the contrast button is cute on the blazer; they dont' have the contrast button on the same blazers anymore (this one is about 3 years old). Maybe I'll just swap them with different blazers :p

@ Rachylou - That's interesting. I didn't think I was really an IT. Maybe because of the shoulder pads?

@ Citygirl - I thought it would be hard to match at first, but it seems like it will be just fine :)

@ Tayleigh - Well, I'll try not to flash TOO many people.

I like the skirt if it fits well.  As to duplicating the top, if you are missing a second one often, then I would be inclined to have 2.  Seeing you mention that they will be different sizes increases the yes for me.  I was just updating a few casual tee shirts and bought 2 sizes so that they could be worn differently.  I don't know if others find it helpful, but I do on occasion.
