WiW: Casual Weekend #2 - Telephones

Man, I am toying with the idea of converting this dress into a skirt - the boning in this dress is rather pointy and the material is a bit thin and pokes into my soft bits when I try to sit for a long period of time.

Should I hang onto it and see if I reduce my soft bits?

Playful and super cute! Love the shape and the colors!

Mmm. Considered opinion: if you hv enjoyed it quite a bit as a dress, alter away. That way you hv had it as meant to be plus get a skirt you know you will love.

    Can the boning be removed?
I like how you have styled it here!

I also wondered if the boning could be removed. It looks cute with the denim jacket.

I would just try taking the boning out first. Or shortening it.

Not a seamstress, but for some reason this post reminded me - have you gotten the pencil skirt I sent you?

Pretty and playful.  I would turn it into a skirt. I know the boning of which you speak, and if it is anything like the dresses I have had with it, the dress shape relies on the boning to keep its shape. And nothing, no matter how cute, is worth soft bits pain!

It's a cute dress and will be a cute skirt. Our clothes shouldn't cause discomfort.

I think it would be great as a skirt!  (And the uncomfortable bits would be removed in the process)

  • chewyspaghetti replied 10 years ago

It would be a great skirt!

OH! Taking out the boning hasn't really occurred to me at all! Maybe I will take a look at that!

@ Cinamon Fern - No luck yet in the mail, but I have messaged you for your email address so I can pay you back shipping, regardless. I hope it eventually comes through the mail, but that's the luck with customs +/- where I live. Sometimes things just spontaneously pop up really fast and sometimes they take forever and a day!

I am all for cutting that pesky boning out. A small slit at the bottom of the channel should do the trick.

I dont know if I have mentioned it before but I adore that two buckle belt... it works fabulously with everything you pair it with! :)

Oh, I am not used to seeing you out of your work clothes. I feel like it's a whole different Lyn! Great outfit, but yes to getting rid of the pain.

  • cinnamon fern replied 10 years ago

Lyn, now I see your message!  Oops, I have a bunch of others I haven't seen until now too.

    Teehee :)

Oh, please don't chop off your pretty dress! It's so cute. Could different underpinnings help?
