WiW 7.09 - Size is Just a Number...

Especially when it comes to second hand shopping! I haven't worn this for a really long time and I remember buying it to modify.

In this brand I am usually a 2 or a 4, but I thought the pattern was cute so I purchased it for a song. The consignment store woman said no one could fit this dress.

No wonder! Tried it on recently (No Buy July you know!) and it fits!

Guess what it's labelled as? A 10. There is no way someone sized 10 would fit this dress. Uh uh. It's not even that stretchy.

Yay!! Less work for me! :) I think Carol Middleton wore a similar pattern recently. Ugh. She's younger than MY mom though!

It's a fantastic fit on the dress, yey for you!  I really like the angled drapey waves detail (ok I don't want to call them ruffles because I like them and sometimes they don't get much love here). Your bag is perfect for it and I like the way you accessorized with kind of same tone on pumps and earrings, very nicely put together.

Who is Carol Middleton??  But yes, a number is just a number.  Glad the dress fits without having to fiddle with it!

    Haha. Kate's mom :)

Also. Yes. They are ruffles. Hopefully ruffles done ok!

Oh, not much of a royal watcher over here, as you could guess.  I, for one, have nothing against ruffles.  I even have pink (gasp!) ruffles in my closet.  :)

The dress fits great on you.  I think the pumps, belt, and handbag all look great with this dress and make it look work appropriate despite the ruffles.

I had a similar experience recently at a thrift store.  The tag on the dress said 10P but it looked like it would fit so I tried it on and it fit great.  I'm 5'6" so too tall for Petites and usually wear a size 4-6.  I had originally picked it out for my sister who does wear Petites but she refused to try it on due to the 10 (she normally wears a 6-8).

Vintage 10s are more like a 4 or 6 today for sure.  I remember wearing a size 10 in high school and probably couldn't fit into those same clothes today (and some of them are still at my parents' place, eek!).

Haha, my parents always complain about the clothes I left at their place!

The dress looks great on you! I think the way the ruffles are positioned on the side it can be work appropriate or fun.

Isn't it interesting how sizes have changed over the years?
