WiW: New glasses and jacket! :)

Well, if -25 isn't cold enough to test out a new jacket, then I don't know what is! I have loved this coat for a very long time, having first spotted it in a Zara in Hong Kong! Man, an investment purchase for sure: but I hope to be able to expand on this style a little bit!

I love this skirt as it is swirly, but my red belt hopefully gives it an interesting pop!

Are these glasses a bit better than the ones that looked like a Vogue editorial? Lol!

WiW: On call, and what I did with eggs...

Whoo! Back to work for real when you have a call night, right?

Comfy was my first priority, so I went simple with a blue wrap (it's also Kate M's 31st today, apparently!!) I don't usually like wraps, but this one was so comfy!!!

I had some time this morning, so my eggs got some silly faces I wanted to share with you guys :)

And I included a pic of our fancy new call rooms! They don't smell like 30 generations of dead souls! Yay!

In love.... but you cost more than my rent!

I'm in love with this beautiful whale blazer! It's absolutely adorable and there are even little whale bones!

I've never heard of this brand before - it's a Thom Browne blazer for his new 2013 resort collection; does anyone know if they ever go on uber clearance?

If anyone is super rich :) : http://modaoperandi.com/thom-b.....coat-84920

Another motivation to marry rich! Or live in a tent. Does anyone have a spare tent?

"Imagining" Fit: ... but the model isn't my size!

As you guys know, I tend to order most of my clothes online. I usually can "guess" whether or not something fits me, by evaluating the fit on a conventional model. I have noticed that some "indie" brands have been using models that are not the typical size 2, but I usually can approximate what the garment would look like in a size 4 and feel relatively confident ordering and more often than not, I would achieve the look I desired.

Now, within the last few months, I have noticed that certain retailers have tended towards using models that are larger than me, instead of being smaller than me. I have attached an example of a dress that I purchased - both on a model and on the dress form.

From evaluating the dress form and the dresses from Closet I have ordered before, I knew that it would fit me, but when I look at the young lady who wears the dress - I'm not sure if it will fit me. I realize this is an irrational fear, but it's really hard to "size down" in my mind that same dress. In fact, I "size up" in my mind, and worry that this same dress will now make me look huge - If it makes the model look the size it does (average) then it's going to make me look huge (vs. clothes that make models look tiny that make me look average).

It is really making me balk at ordering certain things - worrying that I will look huge because the model isn't a size 2 or 4.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Have you ever bought an entire outfit off a mannequin?

I always thought it would be silly to do so because I'm not really shaped like a model or a plastic mannequin, but for the first time I'm really drawn to an entire outfit and might order the whole thing!

For those of us who have bought an entire outfit, does this stop you from mixing and matching as much as you would like to in the future?

I attached pics of the outfit I'm in love with, down to the dotty tights!

2012 Review, Top 15, and I can't believe I WORE THAT!

Dear YLF,

Here are my Top 15 this year! Instead of the BEST 15 looks, I thought I'd pick fifteen looks I'd learn something from so I can improve on it for this year! :) It was painful to look through some of these, but it's all for the sake of learning, right?

1 to 5 - Things I love! Not all of them are recent, and not all of them are dresses! The common trend here though, are all of these pieces are things I wear a lot of - the stripey top in #1 I've worn a ton of times, and mixes well with all sorts of things! Also; the top in #5 as well, I can mix with basically anything. The other common thread is that almost all of these pieces are rather expensive - the cheapest piece is probably the dress in #2 from Forever 21 (I had to put it on hold because it was the last one left); and there are lots of interesting textural elements to each of them, whether it is pleats or layers in #1 and #2. And they're all belted!

6 to 10 - Really old outfits from the beginning of the year... An idea of where I came from and where I'm going to go. #9 and #10 are at the later part of the summer, but the other three are from awhile ago. I think I was totally in love with the topper in 7, 8, 9 and 10; but now I have more toppers to balance things out! I still have that one - it's kinda old now, but I can't find a replacement!

11 to 15 - UGH. Things I hate. I don't know why I ever wore these things; I guess they spoke to me at one point in time. #11 just looks washed out and no-good; that dress is long-gone. #12 pieces are long-gone as well; that dress is simply way too short for me, and I don't like that cardigan one bit. #13 is one that was more recent, but I don't really feel it with the bright bag. I will work on that more. #14 pattern mixing was one that REALLY I thought was cool at the time, but now I'm not a fan of it in the pictures. #15 I think is okay, but really doesn't have the texture or forethought I normally put into my outfits.

Any thoughts/revelations to share with me? :)
