WiW x5 ... and the "Burberry" Debut!

Phew! It's been a busy week! I must say I miss YLF a lot in the mornings, and it is strange because I am actually getting to work -later- than before when I did post WIW. Who knows! :)

Real life stuff: I passed my therapy examination and got caught up in a lockdown of our subway system because a firearm was spotted (in the end, turned out to be unloaded and inoperable, but still a bit scary) - I ended up walking about 5 km home - thank goodness for a spare pair of flats in my locker!

Outfit 1 (1/2) - "Aren't you cuter than a bruised peach?" - I hum and hawed about getting this dress, because I thought I had enough florals in my closet, but I'm glad I did get it! I love how it pairs equally well with my brown blazer and pink blazer, as well as my yellow and pink sweaters! :) And all my patients commented on my T-Rex necklace. I guess they do pay attention to what you wear! Dress: Ruby Belle, Cardigan: Joe Fresh, Earrings: Anthropologie, Necklace: ModCloth, Belt: Vintage Burberry, Watch: Fossil, Shoes: Le Chateau

Outfit 2 (3/4) - aka "You look like Dr. Blueberry!" - This was advertised as a party dress, but it wasn't too shiny, and I wanted to wear it! It is tulle lined, but I thought it would be fun. The tulle is a bit scratchy though! Blazer: Rickis, Dress: Betsy Johnson, Earrings: RW&Co, Necklace: ModCloth, Belt: Anthropologie, Watch: Fossil, Shoes: Le Chateau

Outfit 3 (5/6/7) - aka "DID YOU GET THAT DRESS IN AFRICA?" - Someone thought that there were chicken drumsticks on my dress, so that made for a rather interesting discussion. They are definitely giraffes. One of the other residents was convinced that the shirt came with the dress ... I guess they are a good match? Also, I think hair down in #6 makes me look more round. Dislike. Wore the ponytail. Blouse: Dorothy Perkins, Dress: Ruby Belle, Belt: Vintage Burberry, Shoes: Le Chateau

Outfit 4 (8/9) - aka "Dr. WHOOOOO?" - One of my patients was worried that my necklace was made of stones so it'd be really heavy and I'd drown if I fell into a river. I thanked her for her concern. :p Cardigan, Belt: Forever21, Blouse, Skirt: Ricki's. Pumps: Le Chateau. Watch: Fossil.

Outfit 5 (10/11) - No one said anything about this outfit, so no quotes :p Not sure how I feel about it. Not my regular kind of style, no topper, maybe. It's also more busy than I prefer. Blouse: Sunny Girl, Skirt, Belt: Anthropologie, Necklace: ModCloth, Pumps: Le Chateau.

Burberry Debut (12-16) - Love it! Plaid lining on the inside, under the collar and in the windflap in the back. Also, lined pockets! And I love how you can neatly wear your jacket open without everythin' flappin' in the breeze! Also, need to tie the knot at the back neater!

You crack me up with those quotes! Cute outfits (I do like the pattern mix in 10) but I have to say, the Burberry is absolutely fantabulous! So happy it worked out!

  • cobaltblue replied 10 years ago

    Admitting that I see drumsticks...

I love the new coat! #1 is my favorite from this set. Oh, and #2!

  • L'Abeille replied 10 years ago

So glad you got that floral dress--it is perfect!

I can see the drumsticks too. (What does that say about me?) Say, maybe you should get a Rohrschach dress.

The Burberry is awesome, it goes without saying.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Congrats on the therapy exam! i'm being thick here, but what kind of therapy? The comments are hilarious - do you even try to stifle a giggle when you hear a good one? And maybe the drumsticks came from a place of hunger :)

Looks like uncle did good with the Burberry - are you thrilled with it?

Peaches, Blueberry and Dr. Whooo are my favorites.

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

I must have missed your Burberry post.  Is this the one you received from your godfather (?).  It's gorgeous you lucky girl!!

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

Burberry!!!!! I love it. I hope you do too! When I tried them on with Una, the SA showed us some really cool way to fold and buckle the belt in back so it lays flat. Of course I cannot remember how she did it now!

I love the giraffe dress outfit, chicken drumsticks or no! And I like your pattern mixing in 10.

  • cobaltblue replied 10 years ago

Wait, wait, this is THAT Burberry! So I guess you didn't need all our advice on how to tactfully return it!

  • JulieJohn replied 10 years ago

I wonder if lions see giant drumsticks when they look at real giraffes?

I love your quirky, girly sensibilities. Your double-buckle belt is sensational, and I love the Burb on you.

  • FlorenceFearne replied 10 years ago

You are so cute in every one of these, but 8-9 is my favorite. Pencil skirt+owl print=always good. Pretty sure that's a real formula. And you have that "going" vs matching thing down pat. I have not yet mastered that art. :D

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Heh heh heh... you sum up your week and patients nicely with those quotes! I love that your fashion choices are also ways to make conversation and bond a little.

The Burberry is wonderful on you! Your godfather is Da Man. :D

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

    Congratulations on passing your exam!

And wow, what a set of outfits! Fun, and conversation starting, too. Although it sounds as if your patients don't need much excuse to comment, as long as a topper is involved.

Big congrats on the Burberry, too.  What a sweet gift. It looks very professional. And ultra stylish too.

  • Pawprints replied 10 years ago

Yay on the therapy exam. And on flats in the locker :). And the very successful gifted Burberry. You've had quite the week.

You also have the most personality in your wardrobe of anyone. It's delightful. And so are all the stories your wardrobe collects.

In this lineup I'm most taken by the dots. I'm a fan of dots but these are terrific on you.

Yes, they're absolutely chicken legs :)

Are you the kind of therapist who could analyze us based on what we see in the patterns in your dresses?

I love your hair down. Absolutely love it.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

You look as adorable as ever, Lyn. I'm glad you posted today.

I bat for Team Full Skirt as you know, but my favourite here is #9, followed by #14. You are gorgeously Princess Fun & Flirty each day without fail.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ cciele - Thank you so much! :) I love the jacket too ... I was quite worried it wouldn't fit!

@ Cobaltblue, L'Abeille - Drat, you see drumsticks too? :p I must admit I see drumsticks all the time! I have to remind myself that they aren't drumsticks!!

@ Pil - depending on the context. Sometimes it's really hard to not laugh and be serious when the event calls for it. When I get older, I'm hoping Botox will help me out! I am currently training in psychodynamic psychotherapy (ie: like freud), and I am training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I enjoy supportive psychotherapy and motivational interviewing.

@ AviaMariah - Yup! From my godfather :3 He is on holidays right now otherwise I'd call him to thank him! (He's on an Antarctic expedition!)

@ Diana - I will try to google how it is done!

@ JulieJohn - OMG. HAHHAHAHAHHA. HAHHAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHA!!!!!! DRUMSTICKS!!!!!!!! RUNNING!!!! :)

@ Florence - Oh, I just randomly kinda throw things together sometimes in the morning :|

@ Rae - Someone asked me today, "Do you think intelligence is more important or is fashion more important in psychiatry? You're smart." I couldn't quite determine what they meant. Hmm...

@ Suz - Oh, it's funny because they always tell you the truth, even when they absolutely HATE something. Very refreshing :)

@ Pawprints - Thanks for your lovely comments! I must say that I do feel that my clothes have personality all their own - and sometimes they don't get along with each other! Hmm, I will think on the hair down thing, I think it looks weird still. Maybe I am not used to it? I used to work with a therapist who would analyze you down to what colour your socks were vs. your skirt. She was interesting (and wore only black, creme, and red).

@ Angie - Thanks! :) I'm glad I'm staying true to my core - some days I'm not quite sure and it's nice to have your reassurance.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Congrats, Lyn,  on the exam!  I'm loving on that Burberry coat and I enjoyed the commentary as much as the pics!  My faves?  Dr. Blueberry and Dr. Who.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Drumsticks, ha! I would not have thought that but now that you mention it...:)

#10 is my favorite of this group, because I really like the pattern mixing done here.

My second favorite is #3.  Hve you ever tried the pink cardigan in #1 with this dress?  May be fun in an outfit remix, pink and blue!

The Burberry is beautiful on you, so glad this piece worked out for you.

  • ManidipaM replied 10 years ago

Congratulations, congratulations on exam and trench both!

What a week, eh? Never a dull moment on the ward... I think you are eminently pinnable each and every day. But I especially adore the dots. Though must say #1 is right up my alley and I do see drumsticks too!

  • deb replied 10 years ago

Yea, on the exam! People are so funny with their fashion comments. The Burberry is great. Love it!

  • replied 10 years ago

    Congrats on passing your exam.
Love all the outfits but my particular faves are #3,#4, #10, #11 and of course the Burberry :) That trench is fab! Fits a treat and you look great in it.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

LOL, I may have to wear my drumstick dress with my T-Rex necklace :3

@ Beth Ann - My medical student commented that it was the "bouncing blueberry" dress because of the way the dots aren't evenly spaced :p

@ Lisa - Thanks for the suggestion! I have the pink cardigan in yellow too, and I've tried a yellow/blue mix and I knew that looked kinda cute, so I'm sure the pink one will work too! :) I may try that next weekend!

@ Manidipa - What does pinnable mean? :p

    @ Deb - Thanks! :)

@ Diane G - Thanks! I think 10/11 is a work in progress and I'll attempt the combo again at some point!
