WiW: Dots + Jeans = Casual ... and bonus outtakes!

Didn't have to go into work today! Some personal stuff is going on, so to distract from it, went out to take a look at a few pieces I had spotted online that had caught my fancy - unfortunately, it didn't really translate in the real world, and I walked away empty handed. Oh well! Funds for another purchase, perhaps?

I thought they were "fine" but I wasn't really happy with spending money on "fine" anymore - the pink dress was about $120 (Reg $169) and the plaid dress was $46 (Reg $169).

I usually don't get a lot of chance to wear jeans, so I thought I'd take the pic to show you guys - otherwise this outfit isn't too exciting! :)

Maybe I'm not seeing something you are, but both dresses are fantastic on you! Plus, they're a different silhouette from most of your dresses, right?

Sorry that you're going through unpleasant things, hope everything is ok soon.

Holy smokes, those dresses look incredible on you!

    I hope everything is ok...

The pink dress is stunning! But I do understand that yo have to be 100% happy. Take care of yourself:)

  • moira replied 11 years ago

What? You walked away from those dresses? They look great and fit like they were made for you.
Maybe you should look at these pictures again.

    Thanks ladies ...

@ Pink dress - I just don't think a hot pink dress has any place/business in my wardrobe which I'm trying to slim down to more mixable pieces. I can see it also dating quite quickly due to the colour. If I'm gonna plunk down over $100 on a dress I want it to last me for a bit.

@ Blue plaid dress - I really really wanted to love this dress, but I thought it was a bit too long for me (I suppose I can take it to the tailors) - and I guess this isn't the best pic to show it, but I didn't like the mini-sleeves much because they stuck out :)

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

ADORE your jeans outfit. The big dots are a terrific on you. And I think that plaid dress -- and I know the type of sleeve you mean -- needs to come home with you.

I hope whatever's going on, you're coping better with it. That fun, bold top does you proud for dressing to distract from less-fun things in life.

I have to say I love both dresses on you too. I understand your reasons, though, and if it's not working for you, that's that. However, I wonder if 'distraction shopping' results in the best decisions sometimes, in the long term.

You look super cute in both dresses - the hot pink is a great colour on you! I get your beef with the sticking out cap sleeves, that drives me bananas. I love your polka dots & jeans casual look, too.

I hope a bit of shopping made for a pleasant diversion and that all is well with you.

Just found these on my phone ... a second look :)

But #3 is something else I'm in love with :) It wasn't there to try on; and if I buy it online it's a final sale ... but it's soooo Stella McCartney (#4)

  • Emily replied 11 years ago

#3 is gorgeous! But I would wonder how low the neckline is in person... Is it Le Chateau as well? Their return policy is the worst, especially for online purchases. It really bums me out.

#2 really is beautiful... I would be leery of the hot pink, though, too. Does it come in other colours? I wonder how it would look layered with navy?

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago

Le Chateau return policy drives me >:( too!!! All three of them are from Le Chateau; I think they had the pink dress in black as well, but I don't want another black dress.

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

Oooh, #3 is extremely pretty and fun-looking!

  • missvee replied 11 years ago

I love the plaid one on you! The tucking detail reminds me of Vivenne Westwood's clothes. Are you sure it's not worth a second look? I know you like the fit and flare silhouette, but this more streamlined shape is lovely on you too, very sophisticated. And the length looks fine too. I like the way the model shows it, with opaque tights and flats. I wonder if you could layer a very thin sweater underneath for another look. I like dress #3 too, but don't think I'd take a chance on final sale. That neckline could be tricky!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

First off - you look fantastic in jeans and boots lyn! You should wear these more often :)

The hot pink dress is gorgeous on you but I hear you about it possibly not being the most versatile.

The plaid dress though is FABULOUS and I really wish you'd reconsider that one. I can see it with a variety of cardigans and jackets over top, with shoes or boots. I love the colours and the unique neckline. Plus, if I may say so, it shows off your beautiful figure but in a refined way.

LOVE the pink and tartan frocks! Both 10s.

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago

Oh darn. Now I might have to take a second look if they're 10s from Angie and all of you ladies like them. :p

The Tartan is also a final sale.
