WiW: Daytime Sparkle!

The product description stated that these row houses are Brownstones, but I think they have more of an Euro feel as opposed to a East Coast American style! :) Had to stalk this dress for a very long time, but I am happy it finally went for second markdown. It is on third markdown now, but I don't mind the few extra dollars for the peace of mind!

This is a belt I had bought a while ago to go with a potential party outfit for a wedding invitation that did not end up materializing. I had a struggle with accessorizing this dress: it already has so much graphic!! I tried to balance this with some simple and unique shapes with a touch of sparkle!

:) Does that work here?

Thanks!!

Super cute dress. Those houses do look a bit Euro, but I guess it depends on the neighbourhood!

Pretty dress.  At first I thought the belt was brown and was going to suggest a black one, but now I see that it is really gold sparkles, what fun, sparkles!

LOVE the dress!  The house print is the best!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Oh, I adore this! The house print does have an Euro feel, that's for sure.

Thanks, ladies :) I discovered that there are pockets! I LOVE POCKETS.

@ Shannon - I am mistaken - the print isn't really printed on; it's embroidered or some kind of weird technique where it's actually part of the fabric of the dress. I flipped it inside out and underneath the lining, it's the same print but reversed colours! No wonder the image is so crisp (and the high price point!) :) Neat. Very comfy to wear today!

@ Suz - This is definitely true! My grandmother bought an old Brownstone in NYC and is currently renovating it. When we peeled back one layer of old carpet under another layer of carpet, there looked like there was a huge bloodstain on the hardwood! Scary! :) We are also thinking of taking out the back (servant's) stairwell to create a second set of bathrooms on the main floor. AND there's a dumbwaiter!

@ Lisa - I know, isn't the belt fun? I was super careful with it today because I didn't want it to lose any beads. Then one of my patients decided to dig her fingernail into it. *sigh* At least I know that they're held on pretty tight!

@ Raisin - The print really sells it!

@ Ingunn - Thanks! :3 I'm guessing it's an Euro feel, and it will have to do for now until I can get myself over there to experience it first hand!

Great dress! I like how you accessorised it.

I like how you styled the dress.
Have to confess that I stared for a good number of minutes at the houses. You are right, not brownstones as we understand it.
And I never heard the term brownstones in an Euro context. These would be regular appartment buildings in Europe.

    Thanks Astrid!

@ Ceit - I struggled so much this morning I missed my train :p I was late for patient conference - drat!

@ Celia - I suppose in Europe they would be row homes?

    1. What I think I want to live in one day - the gentrified neighborhood
    2. Essentially town/rowhomes - usually in the poorer neighbourhoods
    3. I think these groupings are more in Boston? I don't remember my urban geography class too well :)
    4. Model of how they're structured - I love the concept of front rooms and backrooms, but having more windows would be nice. The bright, sunny "front" rooms would make lovely places to entertain!
    5. New builds in the old style - a lot of these around here!
