WiW: 12.10 - Medical Emergency, Part 1

No patients were harmed in the creation of this post: all my pics were from after I came home.

I am a little bit (okay a lot bit) of a control freak, so when something happens on the ward and I am at home, I need a fast fallback outfit and return to the hospital in 15 minutes.

Due to the nature of my specialty, we are on home call, so I don't usually retire until 0400 because nothing happens at that time usually.

I'd say this was an okay grab and run! I had had dinner out previously, so that made everything else easier - although the boys made fun of the fact I had makeup and earrings!! :)

Lyn -- you are, over time, convincing me that a good basic dress is really an outstanding FFBO. Just throw it on… add a sweater or jacket and some cute footwear and off you go. So simple… so why didn't it ever occur to me? No one would ever guess that what you are wearing is "grab and run". You look chic and thoroughly professional.

Hi Lyn, this looks *great* for a grab and run. We need a new acronym for that. GAR? GGR?

You look good for having to grab and go!

wow...this is quite put together for grab and go. i'd be looking to find a left shoe that match the right one, and you have a whole outfit that works together!

Oh wonderful that you've put together a closet that makes grab & runs looks so spiffy!

Fabulosity on the run!  I imagine that, in your speciality, these emergencies aren't handled in 30 minutes, are they?

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Beth Ann - It depends on the emergency. Our patients still have medical issues and if someone was having a heart attack for example, it wouldn't make sense for everyone to wait for me to come back to the hospital. I usually start with preliminary verbal orders and ask them to call the medical consult or the medical emergency team (amazing, amazing docs who are in house and always able to help us out!)
