WiW: 12.08 - "Casual. Don't dress up."

What a curious summons!

I still don't really like to wear jeans (they freeze and make your legs super cold) so I went for my usual.

I don't think I am really that dressed up; toned down the makeup to almost nothing, though. My skin is happy with me today!

Haha, that's always tricky, especially if it comes from someone who comments that you "always look dressed up". You look lovely - I think this is the epitome of smart casual.

Too funny. I guess you can always assure them that you didn't go to any trouble (in fact, getting a jeans ensemble together would have no doubt produced much more stress for you) and that this is your casual.

I love the shape that belted cardi is making on your torso. Fun pattern mixing, warm boots, check, check! You're good to go; have fun!

You look arm and snugly in your coat. Hope you had fun.

Ugh, I hate events where I feel like I'll stick out if I don't wear jeans. If I want to wear a skirt or dress anyway, I end up going through a ridiculous amount of effort to make sure it's obviously dressed down without looking completely slobby.

So I'm impressed that you did such a great job of putting together a casual skirt outfit! I really like the pattern mixing you have going on and the cute cranberry cardigan.

This "curious summons" reminds me of what a nosedive style has taken in general. Even in the forties and fifties, the "casual" dress was a lot dressier than it is today. Nice way to be yourself and still maintain your style, Lyn!

You look great! Love those patterns together. Plaid is casual, right? :)

You look casual in your stylish way - and you look fantastic!

Lol! I get that all the time now! But in my social affairs, people think it is OK to show up in shorts, tee and flip flops! I used to dress for them earlier. Now I dress for myself.

You look comfy and gorgeous color combo.

Oh. Ugh. I feel your pain!! But you look perfectly comfortable AND put together in your stylish way. To heck with them!

Plus, you have an amazingly tiny waist!! :)

I think you look "casual chic" and, at the same time, in line with your own signature style (which is fab!). Besides -- "Casual" can be interpreted so many ways. Like you, I often shy away from jeans in slushy winter as once the jeans get wet, they take forever to dry. Who wants to be wet and cold? I often opt for skirts, tights and boots to avoid the soggy jeans saga.

Such a cute outfit! My solution is a warm sweater dress with tights or leggings, socks and boots. It looks just dressy/ casual confused enough that I don't get the dressed up comments.

You look lovely!  and certainly not too dressed up in my book :)

Was that summons directed specifically at you, or at everyone invited?   DBF has sometimes gone to greater lengths to tell me "don't dress up".   Usually if he knows there is the possibility of a lot more walking, or it's a potentially messy outdoor venue.
