WiW: 1.17 - A Problem with Lady Spade?

Off to run a few errands and a doctor's appointment today! She was very amused by the airplanes on my dress, and her resident tried to name the models of the planes (rather awkward!)

I am unsure if Lady Spade is too similar a colour to my jacket? What colour of purse should I be looking for otherwise? Thanks! :)

Hmmm.  Not awful, but not ideal to my eye.  Maybe something in gray?  Or maybe with different footwear?

LOVE the airplane dess, by the by.  It looks super cool with your new jacket.  Sort of an homage to Amelia Earhart.  :)

    It is just not right.

That jacket is awesome! But then, so is the bag :) Just not together, I guess. I think black/dark grey for contrast would work for neutrals or anything in the red family would be fun if you do colored bags.

Hmm, I will see what Coach has for offers at the end of next month when my friends and I make our annual Coach Outlet pilgrimage.

Grey would be a pretty colour to add, and I adore red. Right now I am using my magenta clutch, and it seems to work :)

Hmmm, not sur the jacket works with the dress or the purse. I feel like you have warms and cools competing here.

Personally I don't think the jacket + purse clash, but I'm a one bag/shoe/coat type.

Thanks ladies - I dropped into Danier to get some leather protectant for my coat, and I agree that both grey and red look beautiful with this jacket. Some blues do as well!

Can't wait to scout out the Coach collection later :)

I adore that jacket, Lyn!  So rich and textured.  Another might might highlight it's warm tones more, but I love both pieces and don't think they "clash."

Cute dress on always adorable you.  I don't mind the mix of two leather colors, although I can see what the others are talking about.  They don't exactly "go" or match, but clash is too strong a word.

You can always default to a basic black bag. As always, cute dress!

I agree with CocoLion. Its maybe not perfect, but not horrible either.

Lyn - I don't think your leathers are fighting they are just not enhancing each other.  The value of the jacket is almost identical to the value of the bag so they kind of cancel each other out.  Both pieces are so pretty and stylish, that what I think you are looking for is what makes each piece "pop."  To me, and this is an Angie question, pop comes from contrast.  Black and white is the ultimate.  But for that I think you need to really see what colors are in your wardrobe to pick the best contrast for each piece (if that makes sense)  Hope that helps.  But remember you still look absolute lovely.

Thank you so much for your thoughts :) I don't think Lady Spade is at fault here, and I don't think I would have gone with another colour of jacket either - so I guess it's purse hunting time for me!

Another idea : try a scarf with the same color as the bag.
