WiW: 10.9 - Not quite my favorite; think I've missed. Slightly.

Hmmm. I am not quite happy with his outfit, although I am not 100% sure why.

Maybe too much going on? Maybe because of the red stripe in front? I love all of the individual pieces, but I hope there would be suggestions from you lovely ladies about why this doesn't work?

I will ponder this today :3 Thanks!

  • Cardigan, Necklace: Ricki's
  • Dress: Anthropologie

Looks lovely to me!  I wonder perhaps if the cardi was the same color as the tights  and booties? Or perhaps if the belt were the same shade as the stripe? I think that is probably more likely the culprit!

Actually, I think this is adorable!

I personally think it's the belt and boots, not sure brown is best here.  But the overall outfit is sweet!

Overall is sweet. My first thought is the belt and boots are fighting a bit with the red and grey. The grey reads cool, and the belt and boots are warm.

I love the print on the dress.

I think the necklace should go or be shorter (on your skin, not the dress).  There's already a lot going on up top with the belt, stripe and cardigan.  Your waist looks teeny-tiny in this outfit!

i agree with IK and ceit, i would look to see it black instead of brown

Thanks ladies, I did initially try with different necklaces, and I didn't like any of them, didn't like it without either ...

I think there's just too many colours for my own liking - I also don't like grey tights which I dont' think work with the boots (maybe the warm/cold contrast Ceit mentioned).

Hmm, well, I did survive my day though!

While the red vertical stripe is a "little" distracting, I really like the whole outfit!

I think it is lovely, so not a miss.  If I were to mix it up, I would swap out the long cardi for a little cropped jacket.  I think that extra bit of structure would be nice with the shape of the dress.  I would also take off the belt.

I think if something is a little off, it's what Ceit pointed out. But  I think it still looks lovely.

I quite like this as is, but what about a shoe rather than boot?

  • deb replied 10 years ago

Maybe the color of the cardi is a little too greyed for the dress. I do not munk the boots.

The other ladies gave you plenty food for thought. I wanted to chime on to say I like the dress a lot.

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

I think it's just there's a lot of color going on. Maybe you could swap the belt and boots for a darker color. You still look cute!

What's not to love about this Lyn, I think you look pretty, ladylike, refined and with a sense of humor.  And that is who you are.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

While I'm in favor of reducing the color palette, I like the ladylike silhouette mixed with the playful elements.  What about a shorter necklace?

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Thanks again, ladies for your great suggestions!

It seems like I need to buy a leather belt that isn't brown! All of mine are brown :3

I took a look around, but couldn't find the pic - I think Anthropologie mixed this dress up with a cream thick long cardigan with a brown belt. Will try something like that next time :)

I vote belt and necklace.  It's not as though you don't look adorable, though!

I really like this outfit, lyn! I actually find the red stripe elongating on your figure! I also like the patterns on the sides. Very visually interesting. Love the colour combinations and accessorization as well.

Like the others say, I think the brown boots may be throwing off your colour scheme. I think black, less chunky boots might work better... Or maybe ankle booties with black tights?

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

UGH. I can't wait for my black ankle booties to come!!! *cry*
