WiW: 04.08 - The Baker Street Special (aka new coat!)

Missed you all, and WiWs!

The best things come in unexpected packages, right? I got this coat through a swap and I didn't think it would work for me, but I needed something that was warmer than a trench and cooler than my parka.

Modcloth made some reference to Sherlock Holmes in their title for the coat and I'm not too sure why ... But love the crazy hem and the stand up collar! And it's so cozy!

And I ran into my Moriarty today on the subway - perfect occasion for breaking in a Sherlock coat, no?

The collar is reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. I really like the stand up collar and the shape of the coat with your dress.

Seconding Columbine's comment about the coat's flare over the dress.

Looks good and sounds very functional (!)

Great collar and shape! Looks super over your flared skirt.

    Moriarty aka Your bat-shoe-wearing nemisis?!

I love the coat and def. get a Sherlock vibe from the tall collar!  Is it full-on winter weight?

Love that coat! Such a great shape. And I love the spectacle dress peeking out and the short booties. YLF!

It's not quite Canadian winter, probably a -10C at most. But no wool and not itchy! :)

Oh my nemesis didn't want me to have coffee with her despite we were the only two people coming to this university for post degree training for no reason. Lol. Oh well, her loss (my justification!)

Thanks for the love; didn't think of Sherlockian collars! I need a deerstalker next!

Love it - the high low hem and stand up collar will go so well with all your pretty skirts and dresses.

Her loss for sure!  Love your coat!!

And have you NOT seen Sherlock yet?  You'd probably like it, John Watson is a family type doctor (with field training in combat) in this one.  Lots of great humor, one of my favorite shows.

And here's a picture of THE "Sherlock" so you won't have to wonder about the references...

Oh gorgeous! I don't really care for the current Sherlock show, but he does have a fabulous frock coat. :D

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

    beautiful coat!

You should add a red buttonhole ... I always think that's the detail that makes his coat in the series

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

Ah, that Sherlock! I have seen the series, there's one episode left in season three that Boy and I haven't watched yet!

And a red button hole, eh? That'll be easy enough! DIY tonight!

The popped collar totally makes the jacket!  Perfect weight for the weather now too.  I'd say it was a great swap pick!

  • doubleh replied 10 years ago

Love it!  Seems a natural with your dresses!  And you must learn to put it on the same way Sherlock does at the end of Season 3: Ep 1.  The swoosh.

    Wanted: One Watson.

Ooh! what a great coat!!! Sherlock. I loved the first show of the first season. Then rather tired of it. BUT, it's definitely cool. And so is Cumberbach's coat.
