WiW: 03.12 - I'm Back and Missed My Clothes!

Gah! Couldn't get my glasses dress out of my mind (and YLF) all week! The Betty Ford Center was great (customs asked awkward questions when I told them I was there) and I learned a lot about myself and my identity as a therapist.

Man, you Americans are lucky! I made it to a Saks off Fifth, a Last Call and a Nordies Rack. You guys have SO MUCH SELECTION. And the grocery store is so amazing!!! THERE ARE FIFTEEN TYPES OF OREOS!

And a bonus pic of the view from my hotel room :)

Welcome back Lyn! (We missed your posts.) You look fab as usual. Sounds like your trip was a good one from both a professional and a shopping standpoint. :-) Yes, we Americans are a bit spoiled. Who really needs 15 types of Oreos? Not me… and not my hips!

Glad you are back and it 's so nice that you gained great professional growth at the same time as enjoying some shopping... Yes, we Americans are very much spoiled and probably take it very much for granted...

As for the Oreos.... I will never forget my father -in-law who is from Ireland telling me that the reason Americans fight with their weight is the convience of prebaked goods.. He said if one wanted a cake growing up like he did that it had to made from scratch, so was truly special and not an every day luxury..

Wow, your trip sounds really interesting. So glad you had that opportunity!

And laughing about your comments about our selection here. Too cute.

Welcome back! Our grocery stores are overwhelming, huh?

Must agree we are totally spoiled. Did you check out the chip aisle? Who needs so many kinds of potato chips?!!! But then I think I can never ever have too many shoes or chocolates to choose from so different strokes for different folks huh? :)

I think this is one of my favorite outfits I've seen on you!

The variety of things can be really ridiculous here. I do really want to try the new cookie dough Oreos, although I have a feeling they won't taste nearly as good as I think they will.

Every time I return to the US, which is usually once a year, I go into shock at the supermarket (and make a fool of myself trying to check out - bagging my own goods, expecting to be handed change, not knowing where to sign). Every non-American I know is in awe of free shipping and returns. Glad you had a great experience and are back with your wardrobe!

Do we really have 15 types of oreos!  Crazy Americans!  Glad you got to do some shopping.  Hope you can come back more often.

I love the cognac jacket with the black and white print. The glasses print has a nice retro vibe and the jacket looks so cool and modern. Lovely juxtaposition!

Glad you had a good trip! You look great. And yeah, those Americans sure have the shopping good....

I didn't do any shopping! I was a good girl - well, I replaced my Fossil watch ($35) at the outlet, but aside from that, stayed away.

Tried on some beautiful things though that I could never afford - but they don't know that; the Chinese people who were shopping there were quite spendy :p

Ah, Burberry outlet ... how you vex me.

It's always great to be reunited with your ENTIRE closet isn't it?

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Welcome back!  I agree, it's amazing the selections in the US compared to some other places.

I suppose we that many kinds of Oreos. I don't know, I don't buy them. I do know that we do not have any of the stores you mentioned. I wish we did! But that's what it's like, living in the sticks...
