WIW - Workin' the New Top .. and bonus: Blue/White/Black! :)

Short clinical day today, so I had time to do some things for myself (very exciting = oil change) this afternoon, so I popped home to change and snap an extra photo today! My first outfit is just my to-work usual; but my second was inspired my Angie's article in the main blog today - these are the darkest pants I have that are not a true black, but I think the look still holds!

Also; I've been having trouble with my clothes this morning - it took me awhile to find what I wanted to find in my closet! And I've been noticing that I'm consistently looking for very particular things - so I decided to hang my most frequently used 10 dresses/10 tops/10 skirts and 5 blazers on my rack! Pretty ... thought I'd share :D

I love suggestions :) *nodnodnod*

So organized! Both outfits are stellar! I don't normally see you wearing pants Lyn - you look awesome in them!

You are so petite and feminine. I love the colours in #1/2 and #3 is a great casual look. I'm impressed by your organised clothes rack!

Both outfits look like 10s to me..That new top is going to be a workhorse.

  • amiable replied 11 years ago

Beautiful! I think the blue/white/black totally works with the patterned top.

And impressive closet. I so need to do this.

  • abc replied 11 years ago

Love your pattern mixing. Maybe someday I will "graduate" to that level of styling! And the blue looks fab on you, esp with the pants in lieu of a dress/skirt.

Your rack looks awesome. Love the matching hangers, good organization rocks!!!

Lovely outfits, Lyn! Kudos on your organized and pretty clothing rack.

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

I love both of these, Lyn! The bright colors really pop against the black and white backdrops. Even in the thumbnails the colors are really appealing to me.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I especially like #3! Very apt for today :)

How do you wear what I call Summer shoes IN A CANADIAN WINTER - the ballet flats. It blows my mind! Do share :)

  • replied 11 years ago

Ha, I bet you lyn wears boots outside and switches to indoor shoes at work. I certainly don't wear my nice boots to work in this weather, I have Sorel Cates for the commute :)

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Ceit, but you ARE wearing boots at work. Do you mean that you wear snow boots outside and swap out to other boots in the office?

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Ah! You just answered my question :)

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

I adore this top. I want to steal it. You look terrific in both outfits, and I think you could make your rack into a rotating capsule --- perhaps a week or two worth at a time?

  • replied 11 years ago

Yes Angie -- I have a stash of shoes in the corner of my office. It's like a squirrel hoarding nuts. In the spring then they start going home one pair at a time :)

That blue blazer outfit is SO pinned. Love how organized you are re: your fave pieces.

  • replied 11 years ago

i so want that floral top! Both outfits are stellar.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Both outfits with your top are fantastic lyn - beautifully grounded outfits with a pop of colour in the cardigan and the blazer. Fab!

Hey wait a minute....are you wearing...PANTS in that second outfit?????

Your rack of clothes is so pretty that I would just want to lay in bed and look at it if I were you :)

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

Both outfits are fantastic, but I really love #3. That blue on you is smashing! I think that shirt is going to be a workhorse for you!

    Thanks ladies!!!

    @Merwoman - I normally never wear pants ;)

@Diane G - nah, not so petite. I'm pretty much a tall monster most days. I'm 3" taller than my staff attending :p

    @Joy & @Thistle - I hope this workhorse will be one - it's regular price :p

@Amiable - I think the pattern top works with any colour. Muahahaha. Easy to cheat :p

    @ABC - I find it's pretty easy to mix ANYTHING + dots and ANYTHING + stripes :)

@Amy - It's slightly wobbly, but I have a screwdriver to fix it!

@Diana - Brights make me feel like I'm in a Tide commercial!

@Angie & @ Ceit - EXACTLY. I keep a hoard of flats "to go" - today I could just go get an oil change in flats because I just walk to my parkade, get into my car, drive to the dealership, sit in the waiting room, and drive back. No outside at all :)

@Beth Ann - That's such a good idea! I will have to try that tomorrow when I have some more time :)

@Rae - The blazer came from Ricki's. They usually have one or two "pop" colours. Right now they have blue and a purple, but I didn't like the purple one - it's a different material and feels like a sweatshirt.

@Zaptoee - Under $40 and it can be yours :)

@Shannon - SHH ABOUT THE PANTS. They are like jean-like and comfy. :p

Both outfits are super, Lyn! Love the combinations of color, texture and pattern in 1. And that cobalt with the pants look great! And that top!!

For some reason I had in my head that you live in California.

  • Sarah A replied 11 years ago

Two amazing looks! Very professional and at the same time still youthful and awesome! I love the collection of dots and stripes on your dressing rack.

  • Ariadne replied 11 years ago

I'm in love with outfit #2. I'm so glad you got that shirt--I can tell you're going to wear it literally to bits. It suits you and your style beautifully. And I love your organized "favourites" capsule. It's so restful!

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Love that top it works so well in your work outfit and the fab black/white and blue look.

  • Hil replied 11 years ago

Stunning!!! Love them all - and I need such an organised rack in my life!

  • Asingh replied 11 years ago

Lyn, both the outfits are so feminine and pretty!

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

The outfits are A+ and work-worthy in my opinion.

Your wardrobe rack is a thing of beauty as well.
