Same jacket; "shortened" 2" for Suz

I had the same thought as you, Suz about the length of the jacket: I was told I could have it shortened (about $50).

I just folded it under for now: better?

The longer length is the same as my cardigans; I can wear the jacket over the cardigan without it sticking out. I would have to go cardigan-less if I shortened it.

Hmmm. It's tough to say, Lyn. This way, it's more cropped for dresses (what you usually wear) but it sounds as if the layering options are lower. At this length I would prefer it with scrunched sleeves. I am not sure this is "the one" if you know what I mean. But if you are in love, then it is.....also I will bet it is reasonably priced at the outlet, so not much risk in trying?

    *scratches head*

Hmm, I guess I have 14 days to think it over. It is relatively reasonably priced (around $199) - so it does get bumped up to about $250 if I get the tailoring too.

To be fair, I'm probably going to wear it open and with scrunchy sleeves - that's just usually how i wear things. Part of the reason I went with the XS is because the sleeves scrunched better :)

    Thanks Suz ;)

Something looks off to me at this length, although I can see why the original length might be a tad too long. Maybe some in between length?

I think the jacket looks a little short. How much did you tuck it under? Can you add more pix showing the full length? (I know the full-length pix were in the other thread, but they were quite close up and it was difficult to see proportions.)

I do like the styling of this jacket. Makes me wish I could get one for myself!

OK, found the pix on the other thread. :^)

I think I might try with different dresses too - this one is a bit high waisted - and maybe try with some jeans. I have 14 days to try it on with whatever I happen to be wearing that day, so I'll see what tweaks and how much it will mould to my body :)

Hmm, the proportions seem a bit off at this length. The cropped jackets I've seen usually taper to the waist, while the longer ones usually curve in towards the waist. Just chopping off the bottom of a longer jacket looks a bit awkward to my eye.

Maybe consider leaving the jacket at its current length and wearing it with pants and straighter skirts? And keep looking for a short jacket for your flared skirts? I'm voting that you add TWO leather jackets to your wardrobe!

What if you split the difference and shorten it only 1"?  I do like the shorter length better with this particular dress...

Is a bit of visible cardigan all that bad?  Personally I don't mind if the hem of a sweater peeks out of my jacket, especially when the jacket is open.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

@ Gaylene - I like the way you think - two leather jackets! HAHA; I can always hang onto this one, you're right, for wearing with less poof-tastic things. I really am fond of this jacket.

@ Emily - I suppose visible cardigan isn't that bad, but I don't really like it. It kinda bugs me.

I like the shortened version a lot.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

I am seconding Gaylene. You clearly need 2 leather jackets!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I like it shorter rather than longer, but I'd like to see it with some of your other dresses. Could you post some pics with it shortened 1" instead of 2"?

  • Kristin L replied 10 years ago

I think I'm with the crowd. I think it looks better shortened.

  • columbine(erin) replied 10 years ago

    I like it shortened.

  • krishnidoux replied 10 years ago

I prefer it not shortened! The proportions work better to my eye. The short version puts too much emphasis on shoulders and upper body, making it look too heavy for the bottom. Or maybe it's the camera angle? Lyn, I'm just giving you my honest feedback. This jacket with its original length looks so good on you.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

    AHHHH! I AM SO TORN.

  • krishnidoux replied 10 years ago

I'm with Gaylene also. For your flared skirts, I would look for more of a cropped blouson style, rather than a cinched waist.
