:) Conference Looks - 7 Outfits! Opinions?

I just mixed it all up on my iPad and packed my bags - so unless there are any major changes, this is what it's gonna be :) I can pack it all in my little travel on case, so that's definitely a bonus!

1. Conference Day #1
2. Conference Day #2
3. Conference Day #3
4. Resident's Evening
5. President's Gala
6. Travel outfit #1 and lunch out with friends
7. Travel outfit #2 and dinner out with friends

Man; there's so many more outfits I can make too, in case I get bored :p Tee hee. In case I spill on myself ;)

What fun! # 3 is my favourite, but all are great. Have fun at your conference.

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

    Excellent plan!

  • annaj replied 11 years ago

I love ALL of them! I think I need your wardrobe!! Where did you get the dress in #1? I ADORE it!! Can I please see a photo of you wearing it too - I am not a "local" so would have to mail order, so if I can see the fit, I'll have a better idea of sizing. So gorgeous! All of it!! Enjoy!

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago

    Thanks!

Anna, the dress is from an Australian company called "Sunny Girl" - I would advise sizing up (I'm a size 4; I usually wear a small, but I am wearing a medium).

Here are two WIW's with that dress!

    2. http://minidoc.lookfab.com/pos.....os-in-blue

I bought mine from ModCloth - http://www.modcloth.com/shop/d.....list-dress; if you would like a coupon for the site, I can email you a referral code. I won't get the corresponding referral bonus though (Give $15/Get $15 promo), because I'm a Canuck (US only), but I am willing to help you get the discount :) Or you can use this link: http://sharethelove.modcloth.com/a/clk/3qqKXm

ETA: They also have this black and white dress which I ordered and love - http://www.modcloth.com/shop/d.....rmet-dress

It all looks great. Have you thought about bringing a second pair of shoes? No matter how comfortable my shoes are -- I like to switch after a day or two (something my grandmother told me to do).

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago

I do plan to bring two pairs of shoes; my boots and my pumps - I don't usually swap up shoes anymore than that :) Maybe in the summer? There's still snow everywhere right now, and the temps predicted are around -10 all week :)

I think packing for a trip like this involves higher-level reasoning. I am so impressed you can get it all into one carry-on. Also, Lyn I assume these are polyvores right? Do you have a link for your collection of these on polyvore.com? I would love to see more of your sets. Thanks, Denise.

Thanks so much Lyn! I'm in Australia, but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere here. Sizing could be tricky - I'd usually order a M (I'm around a size 8), but the L is sold out. I could do some simple alterations. Do you think the XL would be easy to adjust, or would I be better to wait for another dress?

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

This looks super, Lyn. Just the right blend between professional, dressy, and more casual. I'm shocked to see an actual pair of jeans here!! :-) You will look terrific and feel comfortable. Congratulations on your first conference!

  • Missey replied 11 years ago

What a gorgeous array of outfits...you will definitel be the best dressed! You could do a month's worth of outfits from this capsule! Nice work

  • replied 11 years ago

Great caspsule! I think you will look great. Have an excellent time!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 11 years ago

You did a great job of making interesting outfits that require only two choices for footwear. That is the key to packing a bit smaller.

They all look perfect for the occasions. Where is the conference?

  • harmonica replied 11 years ago

Perfection! These outfits are professional, feminine and gorgeous. Impressive! I love packing post and you've done a great job with this capsule. I always wonder how people manage with just a small carry on.

All the outfits look great!  Have a great time!

These are superb!  You are going to be the best-dressed doc at the conference!
  • Tanya replied 11 years ago
What a great plan!  The outfits look awesome, I am sure you will be one of the best dressed ladies at the conference.  And I love how you made these sets.   Wish I was as organized.
  • kellygirl replied 11 years ago
You are a whiz with the Polyvore! I think these are all fab and totally appropriate for the events. Great and inspirational post! Love them all. Have fun :)
  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
@ Cocolion - These aren't polyvores, actually; I just uploaded them from my StyleBook :)

@ Anna - I think it'd be easiest to wait for a restock; they usually do once a month or so, or more often if the item is popular. Since this is a pretty popular summer dress, I'd expect a restock soon. You can also ask live chat when a L will be in (and sign up for the notification in case someone returns one!) I hope you find one; I love the dress and get TONS of compliments on it!

@ Suz - I always try to bust out jeans once, lest people think I'm weird(er) than usual!

    @ Missey - Now, that'd be a challenge! I don't think I could do a month of outfits ... well, maybe... :p

@ Dianthus - It's in Jasper! Whee whee! Next year, we're hoping to go to the one in NYC, but we have to pay out of pocket, so we'll see :D

@ Harmonica - I hope my carpool buddies will manage with one carryon, because that's all the room there is in the car!

@ MaryK - I don't think that's true, but thanks! My senior residents are wonderfully dressed and great inspirations for me! You know you're in the right job when after a day of work you are inspired to learn more for the next day, tweak your interview skills, and buy a pair of new shoes ;)

@ Tanya - I have been using Stylebook for years now; it was hard to convince myself to get started, but now it's definitely a habit. I plot (uh, plan) my outfits before I fall asleep.
  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago
You will be the best dressed resident there. Such an amazing collection of outfits you've created. You could really manage to dress yourself for several weeks from this capsule alone. So many great combinations and possibilities!
  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago
Thanks Lyn.  I searched "StyleBook" and it looks like it's an iPhone app.  So you create your sets on the iPhone?
  • rute replied 11 years ago
    Love!!
  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
@ Cocolion - I have everything saved on my iPad, actually. It's not designed for the iPad so the resolution sucks a little bit, but my fingers are too fat to do all this stuff on the iPhone! :)
  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago
Perfect! I esp love THE BAG, the colour scheme, and that your outfits match practicality, too. Love the evening wears a lot:-)
  • Elizabeth P replied 11 years ago
I am in awe. Nothing much more to say!

I got stylebook based in your post some time ago, but haven't done much with it. I must, this is awesome!  Did you take most of these pics or find them on polyvore, etc in order to input them?  That's what I find so time consuming...

enjoy being the best dressed at your conference!

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
@ Elizabeth - I make it a habit to save a pic of every item I buy; usually from the internet. I rarely have time to actually photograph my actual items and saving them from online is so much easier. For items I can't find online (or bought in a B&M store without an online picture) - I get cranky :p
  • Gaylene replied 11 years ago
Your wardrobe will definitely get you the "Best Dressed" award at the conference. But grab a good coat on the way out the door. The end of March is still ski season in Jasper.
  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
@ Gaylene - I am packing ski pants and my ski jacket - we're hitting the slopes! And Banff Hot Springs :D
  • Elizabeth P replied 11 years ago
Can I bug you?  How do you find polyvore style pics of your purchases?
  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
@ Elizabeth - they don't have to be "Polyvore" pics - I either take screenshots or I just save the image - like; for example, all my dresses from Modcloth have images I can use. :)

If I can't find an image, sometimes I google it - like, "Closet UK Navy Blue Flare Dress" :)
  • Elizabeth P replied 11 years ago
Thanks.  Everything I buy seems to have pics with models wearing them, so I get hands and hair and accessories to deal with... :(.
  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
Gah, that must be frustrating!!!! >:(
