I quite like this jacket; it was suggested on a whim because I didn't want black and I didn't want a moto style (tried on a few and it was too RATE for me).
I think it is still a bit tough with the asymmetrical zip and it has some motorcycle vibe in the shoulder and the cuffs. Also love the back.

I like it a lot, Lyn ,but think it is on the long side for dresses. More of a "with pants" jacket.

ETA I totally get what you mean about the moto feeling too RATE. I keep trying them and failing to buy because of this.

I have a lot of grey and navy in my wardrobe, but I think this can play like a neutral in most cases, yes?

The sales person told me she can probably get it shortened about 2-3" without it looking too strange.

I agree with the others. This is probably too long for your flared dresses, which is your preferred style. Perhaps this one for pants and another for poofy dresses?
Although, you were going on a house saving budget . . . so maybe return this and keep looking.
