A silly WIW ... an update, and a new book!

Dear YLF,

Sorry for being sparse, but my SYB continues and I have been doing okay, including picking up two extra shifts and have been teaching the med students to stretch my SYB a little bit! One of the things I picked up on a whim was this doodle/sketch book called "What I Wore Today" in which you are encouraged to draw your outfits for an entire year! This sounds quite daunting, although you only pick key outfits for a particular season - with that in mind, I just picked some of my favorites per clinical rotation.

#1 - Internal Medicine
#2 - Public Health

Some of my new picks I have been working for as a treat, and the rest of it into savings! I'm such a big girl now! LOL.

#3 - Slouchy boots which will hopefully take me into spring; I will miss my tall riding boots! Such a staple! Aldo; about $80.

#4 - I have been in love with the nautical trend and navy and Kate Spade-esque things lately, so I thought this would make a nice addition to my navy capsule! Closet UK; about $50 after discounts.

#5 - One of my coworkers had these and they looked simply fabulous! I used to never wear gold-toned earrings or accessories, but I like the way they look in the summer! Multiple shops; about $4.80 at Forever21.

#6 - I have a similar dress in a straight sheath (#7), but I really like the flare! Couldn't say no to a party/fancy dress that I could just throw on! BB Dakota; only $20 on clearance!

PS: No luck so far in the dating world. Sigh.

I LOVE your book!  Especially the note at the bottom of Public Health.  I may have that tattooed somewhere....

Great new additions to the wardrobe - those boots are dreamy.
  • milehighstyle (Linda) replied 11 years ago
I love your book too!  You draw really well - what a fun idea.  And great buys.
  • Suz replied 11 years ago
You are hilarious, not to mention clever and beyond cute. I love the earrings...they remind me of something Diana (I think) showed us last year? And I also love the dresses!

    Adorable notebooks.

You are the best, Lyn! Love your drawings, and yes, you ARE a rockstar!
  • rachylou replied 11 years ago
What a fun book! The dresses are great; I really like 'em.
  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago
The sketches are so fun! I love your pattern mixing in #7 the dots and paisley. You are a wonder at pattern mixing! "Funk that I'm a rockstar!" Love it!

Those sketches are funny and cute.  I love the slouchy boots and nautical dress and can see them working really well for you.
  • Runcarla replied 11 years ago

LOL! Do you want to meet my son? He's in the BScNursing program at Nip U in North Bay!

    :-)

    Just saying....

  • bj1111 replied 11 years ago

Lyn, you have a superb sense of humor. I wish i lived closer so i can experience your humor irl.

Love you in a fit and flare.

  • Nicole D replied 11 years ago
I love the sketches!  Except you need to roll up the sleeves in public health - infection control hazard.
  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
Tee hee. I'm not a good drawer, so there's a lot of outtakes as well. Some of them are pretty painful.

@ Nayda - oh, the boots are so dreamy! I hope there aren't too many puddles!

@ Linda - I should show you guys the bad pics too! :)

@ Suz - Now, now, no overdosing on cute :) I kind of get bitter about guys calling me cute though - sometimes a girl doesn't want to be like fluffy bunnies, you know?

@ Natalie - Heck yeah, and I won't let anyone forget it!! Haha. I travel with a sharpie for signing autographs. (Actually, I use it to mark limbs or sides for surgery).

@ Rachylou - Me too! I used to hate stripes! Can you imagine??

@ Day Vies - I love pattern mixing too! It's so much fun! Sometimes too much makes me go ... huh? :|

@ Dianthus - I can't wait to wear them together! Slouchy sailor style!

@ Runcarla - I think I'm going to take a break from dating right now, although I'm always open to meeting new friends :)

@ Bj1111 - I think my friends have had enough of my humour for now!

@ Nicole D - The funny thing is, I haven't touched a single patient in public health! It's weird. I don't think I really get public health - I'm more about health on the individual patient level than at a population level, I think!

That black and white dress is gorgeous.  I want it!
  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Haha love your sketches epeially the comments & descriptions.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago
You are too cute for words, Lyn!
Fun boots (spray them for protection and ignore the rain) and lovely dress which is totally you!
  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago
Thanks for posting your awesome notebooks! Lovely to see the genesis of an ensemble!
  • Karie replied 11 years ago
You are so talented at drawing! I can only draw stick figures :(
Fantastic purchases, I think you will get a lot of wear out of them.  Both dresses are beautiful, I love the fit and flare style.
  • Angie replied 11 years ago
You're pattern mixing with the best of them, Lyn! An adorable outfit. Great new finds too! I want to see your hair down asap. Pretty please.

Your drawings are hilarious and so fun! I enjoyed looking at them, and reading your blurb. I noticed a little potty-mouth! You're a rock star in my book too :)

  • Hil replied 11 years ago
Oh my word - I need that note book! And I love your sketches - so cute!

    Those boots are fabulous!
  • nancylee replied 11 years ago
Lyn, I LOVE this!  Your drawings are entertaining, fun, and so....good!  You are a multi-talented mini-doc for sure.

Looking forward to more illustrations.  :)
  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago
Love #7, so cool!  And your sketches are great, they make me feel happy!  You have a creative streak for sure.

And cupid is speaking to me from my crystal ball  ... I see someone tall, dark and handsome in your future!
  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
@Gennifyr - I'm waiting for it to be on sale, but it comes in other colours too! The brand is Closet UK :)

@Kiwichik - tee hee, they were very fun!

@Sveta - I have a bottle of spray ready for my boots to come home!

@Kirshnidoux - Some of the pics are quite terrible ;)

@ Karie - there are outlines you can just trace over in the notebook! Usually, I just draw stick figures.

@ Angie - Tee hee, I am definitely potty-mouthed. I have to cut back though, I almost let one loose in front of a patient - and then I actually did! I try to only potty on weekends now. I also need a hair cut, it's quite bushy when I leave it down. Like Hermione.

@ Hil - They are supposed to arrive this week, I can't wait!

@Nancylee - I can also tapdance too! Jk!

@ Cocolion - :) Well, then, I'd better get some pretty dresses ready!

I love the new frocks. You are a bargain hunter extraordinaire too!

The look book sounds fun, and it will be interesting to see what it says about your style and its evolution.

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

So, I really like #4. As seen by the dress I recently bought myself http://www.talbots.com/online/.....e=cat70008

I am with you on loving the Kate Spade style, although she doesn't sell in my size so no temptation.

Where is my bargain hunting gene?!? :)

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago
@ Thistle - I'm asian. I'm born with bargain genes!
  • rachylou replied 10 years ago
Great pattern mixing. I love, love your dresses. Also, the sketch book looks so much fun.
  • lyn* replied 10 years ago
Thanks Rachylou - sorry for all the spam. UGH.

I just reported the spam, lyn!
  • lyn* replied 10 years ago
Thanks, it was like a HUGE SPAM FART.
  • Krista replied 10 years ago
    No kidding! :)

Hey lyn*, how did the boots work out?  I see the original post was a month ago.  Just wondering if you got them and what you decided, they look really nice.
