Packing Help!! - Palm Springs in March; Dress Code?

Dear YLF,

I am in dire need of help! I am not sure what to bring with me for a week of Palm Springs, although I do know it will be warm. To compound issues, I will be going to Jasper for the weekend before, without time to go home and swap bags - so whatever I'm using for Jasper (time with friends) can be used for both.

This is the dress code for my learning adventures - could someone help me interpret what I can wear? I don't wear shorts or capris. I can wear jeans ... This is what they have sent me:

It is going to be warm in the desert. While I want you to dress neat and be presentable, I also want you to “blend in” with our patients and family members and be comfortable. Suggested attire:
*jeans
*walking shorts/ Bermuda shorts (knee length)
*Capri pants
*skirts
*regarding shirts: no spaghetti straps please, belly buttons covered at all times
*no writing allowed on shirts, school logos are the only exception
*tennis shoes, sandals, and flip-flops allowed

I looked in my WIW archive, but found it was hard to find too many casual looks

  • Any idea of what kind of style/vibe I should be going for?
  • Is a jean jacket topper too casual? Should I be worried about toppers?
  • Are pumps too formal? Should I pack up flats?
  • Is it warm enough to consider cotton fabrications only?

WiW: 2.7 - Bears and Jeans for Friday

As much as I do not like to wear jeans to work, I have picked up that it seems to be the environmental norm at my workplace. I guess I already buck the norm quite a bit, so I will let them have the battle of the Friday jeans.

Doesn't make me happy though. Maybe the bears will.

WiW: 2.6 - Graphic Pattern Mix

I have had this belt for a really long time: I think I bought it because I liked the mirrored details and had originally bought it to guzzy up some solid dresses! Well, times have changed!

I am supposing this could work because of the neutral colours of both the dress and the belt; but we will see ...

Also, back to -30 for us, so fleecy tights time! Mine have dots!

WiW: 2.5 - The Workhorse Blazer Saves the Day!

Another one of those "wear jeans but look professional" days. Ugh. Apparently we are getting more of those through the pipes (whose brilliant idea was that?!)

Had to fall back on the FFBO again, but will try something better next week. Maybe. :p

WiW: 2.4 - From Desk to Dinner... With last round of candidates!

Relying on an old standby this morning for a quick getaway!

It's going to be a busy day with a mini party to get to know some of the candidates applying for next year's residency spots! It's so much less nerve wracking on this side of CaRMS!

I am glad that I accidently replicated this dress because if something happened to it, I would be quite sad indeed.

Keep warm!

WiW: 2.3 - Neutrals and Fun Accessories!

As much as I love this dress, I was struggling to make outfits with it: the bold pattern really didn't work with most of my accessories, so it was getting frustrating.

This morning I tried it as a neutral backdrop though, to showcase some of my more colorful pieces. I think it works!

Happy Monday!

WiW: 2.1 - A Spin on the Casual FFBO

I am not usually the type to get up at 6 am on a Saturday, but it's judo tournament day!

Had to get ready fast, so I just did a variation on the Newest FFBO in my arsenal, and the dotty cuffed blazer is out to play again!

Decided to go with tshirts and jeans today because in a small town, I thought a dress would look out of place, and Ceit had suggested earlier that it could be cold.

Hope I won't fall asleep! :p
