Yay! I can finally fit in this skirt again! Teeheehee. I was definitely missing it from the rotation!

Mixed it up with my favorite owls for another call shift tonight. What fun... ;)

Dresses/Skirts without Toppers - Professionally Appropriate?

Browsing through my WIW's I'm struggling to find any without toppers - I always have a topper with my outfits, and unfortunately, I find myself in need of appropriate professional attire without a topper :)

Is there anything I should be looking for when I wear sleeveless things? Underarm flab? Lack of underarm flab?

And the rules stipulate that spaghetti straps are no-no's - so, would that mean straps should be at least 1" thick? I don't think I have very many things that are spaghetti straps, anyway.

Thanks for your assistance :)

ETA - lol; the difference in muscle in my arm between picture #1 and #2 - about 4 months.

WiW: 2.14 - Happy Valentine's Day!

Aha! I had almost forgotten about my red-ish "picnic table cloth" dress! I had bought this for an event last summer that didn't end up happening, but I tried to winterized it for today!

I have been struggling with my blazers recently because my arms are getting bigger from workouts (and bonbons). The linings are leaving marks on my arms. Bah! :( only two fit right now. At least this one does!

  • Dress, Blazer: Anthropologie
  • Necklace: Yellow Owl Workshop
  • Boots: Aldo
ETA: Close up stock photo of pendant - aka my opinion of relationships!

WiW: 2.12 - Houndstooth!

I finally had some time last night to tailor this dress I had found on eBay; although it was a larger size, it was quite a steal and I am hoping that this fun houndstooth may be a more "grown up" version of the fun conversational prints I love - sometimes you have to look a little more grown up, right?

My rebellious side chose the purple tights though! Yeah! :D

Cultural Norms vs. Skin Tone

So... there may be an occasion for me to wear a red dress coming up, as is the cultural norm. I don't really wear red in my closet and I've been subtly trying to sneak in a little bit more red to see what YLF would say about it.

I think most of the comments have been relatively positive, but red really isn't a colour I wear. I think it washes me out.

I'd imagine that asian people have a range of skin tones, but there are a bunch that have my colouring - if we're supposed to wear red to happy occasions but it just doesn't look good on us, what are we supposed to do?

  • Is there a shade of red out there for me?
  • Is it that wrong in today's modern day and age to NOT keep to cultural norms?

Side Note: I had a "red dress" in my 2014 budget - I wanted to keep it under $100; but I found the Kate Spade Selita dress - and I have been stalking eBay for a long time for one, but at almost $670 CDN (http://www.neimanmarcus.com/en.....45280273/p), I didn't think I would be able to keep it under $100. Long story short - I found one for $45!!! IN MY SIZE. AHHHH! I am so excited for it to come! So pretty with tights and bare legs too. *drool*

WiW: 2.13 - Afternoon Coffees

Out for a few errands and coffee with a friend after a call shift! We are going to bake anatomically correct heart shaped cookies for valentine's day! More exciting for her, because her partner is a cardiologist.

This is definitely a more summery dress, but with Palm Springs on the mind, I definitely wanted to wear it today!

I feel it's a bit too booby for anything else besides coffee: bah.

Packing lists ... My OCPD Ways

I have a tendency to overpack my bags, so in order to overcome this, I tried to plan for my upcoming trip with specific articles of clothing I am going to wear on particular days.

I have also built in alternatives in case I get bored or the weather is yucky.

There aren't actually a lot of things I need to bring! I may bring two pairs of jeans, though.

WiW: 2.11 - Layered Plaid!

I haven't worn this dress in a little bit! It usually is a challenge to layer or top up properly, but I decided to go with something a little cozy today. It is -31 C or so, says the radio this morning. Brr!

Another overnight shift for me coming up.

Sorry for being sparse on the forum.

WiW: 2.10 - The Unexpected Double Shift

Ah, the joys of coverage for other people's lack of planning ;p - oh well, can't be too bitter about it I suppose!

Just something really quick because I am tired. Ugh.

I will get a Latte!

WiW: 2.9 - A New Favorite!

I was so sad when I missed out on the blush and black lace Zara dress that Kate Middleton had, and was equally disappointed when that dress was so short that I couldn't wear it to work!

Thank goodness for Anthropologie! A similar fabrication with longer length cropped up this holiday season!
